Chapter 12

Arjun is on his way to Italy. He meets Maya.

Maya: I want to test your skills. I want you to give a sample audition.

Arjun begins to sing Dholi Taro Dhool baaje.Maya gets impressed. She said, "They say that when a person is in love with someone, they will be able to sing with all their heart. You sang with the same feeling. I saw you with my twin sister Kumud on Kusum's wedding with Pramad."

Arjun: You are right. I love Kumud but your dad didn't agree. He said my music is not for sale but he took my love in the form of Guru Dakshina.

Maya is shocked.

She said, "Kusum marriage broke with Pramad. Oh no, Kumud is getting married to Saras the same day."

Arjun gets shattered. He said, "God has done injustice to me. This is the first time I am feeling that I shouldn't have been born in Italy. I have failed in love. I'm doomed."

Maya: Don't worry. I won't allow your love to fail. I will unite you with Kumud.

Come with me to India. We will talk to Saras.

Arjun & Maya come to India.

Maya meets Kumud and sees that Kumud had hurt herself.

Maya: Why did you do this?

Kumud: I don't want to live without Arjun. My future is zero. I am marrying Saras only cos dad had got a mild heart attack.

Maya: Is your love so weak?

Kumud: You can take it as that.

Arjun & Maya goes to Saras's place who is getting ready for the wedding.

Saras: I am Kumud's fiancee.

Arjun: Go ahead & marry Kumud.

Maya: Kumud loves Arjun but she is marrying you because dad had got a heart attack. If you marry Kumud, none of you will be happy.

Saras: Thank God you told me. I wish I knew it earlier. 

Kumud is getting ready as a bride. She is very dull. She is almost crying. The rituals begin. Saras & Kumud sit at the mandap but he finds Kumud's physical presence. 

Saras: One minute, I want to have a word with Kumud in private. It is urgent.

VC: You can talk a lot after marriage.

Saras: No uncle, if I don't talk to her now, I will never be able to talk to her about this.

VC: Fine, but come fast.

Saras takes Kumud to the room. He said, "I have proposed to your family that I want to marry you because I love you but I don't see the same happiness on your face. Even now time is there. I can bear everything but not lies and dishonesty. Please tell me the truth for God's sake."

Kumud is silent.

Saras: Maya had told me everything. You need not fear. You love Arjun right?

Kumud: That love is dead now.

Saras: You are lying to yourself. Do one thing. Close your eyes and tell me the person you see.

Kumud: I don't want to take any decision with closed eyes. My dad will fall ill again.

Saras: I will handle everything. Leave the matter to me.

Kumud closes her eyes. She sees Arjun and opens her eyes.

Saras: Which person did you see.

Kumud: Ar-Ar Arjun

Saras takes Kumud to Arjun who is waiting outside.

Kumud is happy to see him again.

Saras tells Laxminandan, "Dad, I want to tell you one thing."

Laxminandan: I have delayed this wedding because Kumud was not mentally present. She loves Arjun

Laxmi gets shocked.

Laxmi: What are you talking? Where is your manliness? It is such a shameful thing when you are not able to control a woman.

Saras: Manliness is not about controlling a woman's happiness but about facing the reality. Love has to come naturally. It does not come by force.

Laxmi: It is all said than done. Can you bear the moment of separating from a person whom you love the most?

Saras: It will definitely pain me for a while but if I marry her forcefully, none of us will be happy.

Laxmi: I can understand but what about your mother and sister?

Saras: They will understand that being women.

Laxmi: I am a bigger advocate than you but you are a better person than me. Whatever you have said now, I have been saying the same thing in the court but now what I told you, it was a father in me that had talked to you like that. I am proud of you my son. I will talk to VC.

Laxminandan comes to the hall and said, "This wedding cannot take place."

He goes to VC and said, "I was under the impression that everything will be fine but I am wrong. We never knew that Kumud loves Arjun."

VC: I don't have anything against Arjun but I had given my word to you & it will be a disgrace if I go back.

Laxmi: Even I have agreed to get Danny married to Kusum though she has divorced because Danny & Kusum love each other. It was Saras, Kumud, and Arjun who had convinced me about this. Our relationship is not so weak that it will end just like that.  You have got one more daughter. Who knows, my Saras might fall for Maya.

VC thought for a while. He said, "It was told to me very late. I was upset because I got to know that from the third person."

Laxmi: I understand that it is very much upsetting but if you look at the other side of the coin you will get to know about it. I could make out that you always wanted a partner for Kumud who is a singer but you found our Saras as a better person. We were happy. Who knows Kumud never got an opportunity to tell you. Please think Arjun as my other son and say yes to this relationship.

VC agrees. 

Laxmi calls Arjun who comes in.

Arjun to VC: I'm very sorry.

VC: No my boy, I was upset at that time. My eyes have opened. I realized that my Kumud cannot get a better partner than you.

Arjun & Kumud get married. Danny & Kusum also get married the same day.

After the wedding, Arjun & Kumud fly to Italy.

Arjun introduces Kumud to his mother who welcomes her.

Saras & Maya go to the park to spend some time after both the marriages.

Saras: I think I saw you earlier & I thought that you are Kumud. You both look exactly the same.

Maya: We are identical twins.

Saras: I want to thank you for telling me the truth.

Maya: It is my pleasure. It was also the question of Kumud's life. She had gone to the extent of taking away her life, hurting herself.

Saras: I had told my dad to handle it as no youngster have a right to advice your dad.

Maya: If I am in Italy, it is because of Dugba. I have appointed Arjun in my company & I think that my job is over here. I have to go.

Saras gets dull. Maya sees that & said, "I too miss a friend like you."

Saras: Please keep in touch if you consider me as a friend & meet me if possible.

Maya: Sure.

Maya goes to Italy. Arjun & Kumud become Maya's partners. All of them rehearse.

At Laxminandan's house, Simran hugs Saras emotionally and said, "You are the best brother in the world. I'm proud of you."

Saras: And you are the best sister.

Simran: I guess you are thinking about Maya.

Saras: I think I love her. I wish she loves me as much as I love her.

Simran: I can understand your pain. But don't get disheartened. If your love is true then Maya will definitely fall for you. We never knew that Kumud and Arjun love each other but I don't have any hard feelings towards any of them. I am very proud of you.

Ghuman: I am also proud of you.

At Italy, Kumud sees Maya is in a lost state.

She asked, "I think you love Saras."

Maya: Yes, I do. How about conducting the show in India?

Arjun: Yes, that is a good idea.

Arjun, Kumud, and Maya come to India and invite the family to the concert. Saras comes to the concert.

After the end of the show, Saras and Maya meet.

Saras: What a pleasant surprise!

Maya: I was thinking about you. So I had decided to conduct the music show here.

Saras: I love you, Maya.

Maya: I love you too. After our wedding, I will be shifting my business here.

Saras: I don't want you to do that. In fact, I want to settle in Italy.

Maya: But the laws are different in Italy.

Saras: I know. I will update myself and practice there.

Saras brings Maya home and gets the proposal for VC.

VC and Laxmi hug each other.

VC: What you said has turned out to be true.

Laxmi: I sensed that it will happen.

Both the families conduct the Saras-Maya wedding. Maya and Saras get married.

Arjun, Kumud, Saras, & Maya settle in Italy. Saras updates himself and starts taking up cases in Italy as a legal advisor in Maya's company. They all live happily ever after.
