Part - 40
"And I'm Pratap kurana Commissioner of Police" Roli's mind snapped out of shock as the man's voice reached her ears. Now she realized why Sid had saluted him.
Roli was still in daze as sid moved near her. She jerked her body when he held her hand in his and looked at him in surprise.
"Will tell everything but, not here" sid said in soft voice and looked at pratap, who was standing beside him, while he nodded and walked up to the car.
Pratap got into the passenger seat, beside the driver. While Sid along with roli got into backseat.
The drive continued for almost two hours. It was a pin drop silence in car as they moved ahead to their destination.
Roli had a lot to ask but, she trusted that Sid would let her know everything when the right time arrived.
Soon, car pulled in to what looked like a mansion. There was a building, which more looked like a palace, covered by garden around of it, which was guarded by tall compound wall all around.
Car stopped at the entrance door. Getting out of the car, sid stared at the entrance for a while. Roli obediently followed sid and stood beside him.
Roli looked at the surroundings with awe. It was breathtakingly beautiful!
When her eyes swapping around, they fell on the nameplate engraved on the wall, right beside the main door.
"Bharadwaj House" roli was surprised as she read the nameplate and took a quick glance at sid, who was now pushing the door to open.
Sid held roli's hand and entered in to the spacious hall.
Roli freed her hand from Sid's hold as she walked towards a portrait hanging at one side of the hall.
It was a picture of four people. One old age woman, a middle aged couple and a little boy.
By looking at that small boy for a few moments, roli quickly realized who it was. And she turned around to see sid, who was also gazing that particular portrait.
"My family" sid stated, looking at the portrait. His voice was deep, containing a lot of emotions in it.
After hearing him, roli again turned to the portrait in surprise.
"Maa, papa and mataji" sid spoke with his lips slightly curved upwards as he reminded them.
"Where are they now?" Roli enquired, turning towards Sid as she never heard about them from him till now.
"They're no more" pratap interrupted, knowing that sid couldn't tell.
Roli was stunned to hear it as glanced at Sid. Sid took a deep breath as he started narrating.
"I was eleven when they abruptly disappeared from my life. Maa, papa and mataji went for a marriage in other city. After returning from school, I was waiting for them. But, they returned as lifeless bodies.." sid throat got stuck as he reminded of that day when he was busy with his homework as he waited for his parents, sitting all alone in hall. His waiting lasted till late night when a few people along with a police officer arrived as they placed three lifeless bodies on the floor.
As a kid, sid couldn't understand what was happening as he watched his family lying on the floor, without souls.
Sid was snapped out of trance as Pratap placed his arm on his shoulder as consoling. Pratap then turned to roli and said "while returning from near city, they met with an accident on the highway. By the time we got to know about it and reach there, they were already gone. But, it wasn't just a mere accident, they had been murdered".
Now it's one more shock for roli. Sid too had lost his family same like how she had lost hers'.
"Who did it?" Roli's voice was shaky as she asked.
"Rajveer, he's veeru's guardian. He was involved in such schemes ever since his youth. And veeru too is following his path now. As a businessman, rajender was very successful and so his company has been leading even till now. He was chased by death just because of a business deal, which was missed by his competitor. And that competitor had held grudge towards rajender. He took rajveer's help to make his way clear in business world without a tough competitor like rajender" pratap answered slowly.
After listening to him, roli glanced at sid, who was staring at the portrait with a sad face. She had never seen him being like that before. It was really pricking her heart to see him being sad.
"As a police officer and a good friend of rajender, I had tried my best to punish them. We even succeeded to some extent but, they made fake evidences and turned the whole incident as an accident. And rajveer got jail statement for six months. But, he had powerful influence and got bail within one month" roli's gaze never left sid as she listened to pratap.
"It felt like a matter of seconds and I lost everything. I didn't even know what all happened after that moment. But when I got a grip over the situation, I was left completely alone in this house. After a week of that incident happened, my relatives came back to take care of me. But, in reality, they all just wanted this property" sid said with a bitter smile as he reminded of his selfish relatives, who got affectionate soon after his parents death, only because of the billions worth property.
"..I didn't want to go with any of my relatives nor I wanted to stay here in this house, where I would be alone. When pratap uncle came here, I talked to him about it and as per my wish he made arrangements for me to join in orphanage" sid continued calmly.
"But, one thing was good about going to orphanage, there I happened to meet sunny, rahul, saket and sameer. They all too lost their families with some or other reasons. And mausiji used to take care of us since then. It took sometime for me to accept all those but, they all were good enough to adjust with me and I got a new family"
It had been indeed hard for sid to adjust with the sudden changes. Being the only son, he was grown and brought up by pampering with all the luxuries. And with the unfortunate incident, which took away his family, he was left alone in grief. Thus, he decided to leave everything behind and moved to orphanage.
"It took me a while to know that whatever happened with my family was not any accident but a preplanned murder. But, I was too young to do anything back then. Still I was determined to avenge for family.Though I decided it but, I never wanted to do it in a wrong way. Thus, it became my goal to become a police officer" sid said in a serious tone.
"And by the time sid achieved his goal, we got to know about veeru. He went even far from rajveer in scheming and built an underground world upon it. Like they say, to cut a throne we need another throne. Thus, we created that another throne to cut the existing one and it's siddhant" pratap said calmly.
"Sid, sunny, rahul, saket and sameer all got qualified for different posts in our department. But we didn't announce it to public; instead we let them to enter the underground world. It didn't take much time for them to make their place prominent. And slowly everybody began to believe them as gangsters. It's almost four years now since they had been disguised as gangsters. But, it's not as easy as we thought to defeat veeru and we still not able to make his dark world collapse. And we still kept trying to grab an opportunity. It was then when we got to know about your father's project here. It was indeed helpful for many lives so, he quickly got permission to proceed with it. But, he got obstacles in his way. We tried to protect him but, unfortunately we couldn't reach him on time" pratap said guiltily.
Roli's eyes were getting moist as she heard it. Perhaps she got reminded of her parents.
Sid, who was in deep thinking, quickly got his senses back and reached her.
It seemed like no matter how sad and broken he was, he would always be there for her when she was hurt.
Sid held roli's hand and nodded like no as if saying her not to cry.
Pratap spoke as he watched them "after that incident happened with your parents, we tried to search for you and even went to your house but there we got to know that you left from that place. We searched at all the nearby locations there, still couldn't able to get you anywhere. And on one day sid called me to tell about you. He also said that you misunderstood him as your parent's murderer. At that time I wanted to come to you and clarify everything but I was held up with some official works and couldn't come back".
After listening to him, roli looked at sid with a guilt as she reminded of how she spoke to him back then when she mistook him as a murderer.
Pratap seemed to understood of what she was thinking and he swiftly changed the topic as he said "and by the time I reached here, a lot of things happened, which really surprised me. I really never expected sid to fall in love so easily".
His words instantly changed their conversation from emotional to casual.
"I never expected it either" sid replied with his casual smile, still holding roli's hand in his.
"You know roli, I always used to say that if I had a daughter then I would've made sid as my son-in-law. But, unfortunately I don't have any kids" said pratap with a slight disappointment.
"Haven't you said that I'm your son" sid quickly replied to cheer him up.
As a best friend of rajender, their both families were so close to each other and he treated sid like his own son ever since he was born.
Pratap smiled at sid as he patted on his shoulder in agreement.
"I know you both have endured a lot. Now it's time for you to start a new beginning. And roli, it may not necessary to tell you this as you might realize it already but, still I'm saying.. you're really too lucky to get sid. He's a perfect man and definitely not as everybody out think about him. He's soft hearted. Take care of him. And god bless you both" pratap blessed them with all his heart. While roli and sid reciprocated with a warm smile.
"Well.. now I need to go. Sid, take care of the things and be sure nothing should go out of the track" reminded pratap with all seriousness.
"Everything will take place as per our plan" sid assured.
As they began to discuss about their official work, roli calmly watched them.
After a while, pratap left bharadwaj house.
Sid turned to roli, who was looking at him already.
He gently held her hand and said "Roli.. I really never thought to hide all these from you. It's just that I never got a situation to tell you about it. I hope you won't be angry".
Roli simply shook her head as no and hugged him, wrapping her both the hands around his waist.
"From now on we're going to stay here. Is it ok for you?" Sid asked as he too wrapped his arms around her.
"Whatever you decide is ok for me" roli replied with satisfaction.
She was ready for anything as long as he was by her side.
Sid smiled at her reply and tightened his grip around her and hugged her tightly.
