Chapter 57

Roli felt something strange as she stepped down from the car and moved towards the entrance of the resort. She could not understand why she was feeling so and what was that feeling actually. But, she felt strange and something unpleasant might happen as her legs continued to take one by one further steps.Roli dialed Sid's number once she entered the resort. But, he didn't answer her call. She frowned at the phone screen as she had a creepy feeling of someone watching over her. She looked back and forth but found none.

Soon, a lady at the reception reached her. Roli inquired for the direction saying Sid's name. The lady walked back to the counter and dialed a number. Then she returned to Roli and asked her to wait for a while. 

Roli quietly settled in the couch in the waiting area while her heart started feeling an uneasiness. She was excited when she was getting ready to meet Sid. But, the moment she reached the place, her heart was not at ease and she couldn't understand the reason behind it. 

Nearly a twenty minutes later, the same lady came near Roli and led her the direction.

"This is the room, madam. Thank you" said the reception lady and left the place.

Roli opened the door and stepped in to get surprised to feel a bunch of rose petals beneath her feet. Her lips curled up in to a slight smile as she watched the path made of rose petals. But, her happiness didn't last long.

The moment her eyes took off of the ground and looked ahead, she had received a shock of her life. 

The whole room was decorated with heart shaped balloons, lit up candles, rose flowers and... Sid and Ritika's pictures. 

Roli did not dare to take a step ahead and stood rooted near the door. Just then she noticed the person standing in the middle of the room, facing back at her. And she could recognise the person in a single glance. It was her... Ritika. Holding a bunch of roses in her hand, she was watching something in the laptop before her.

Roli was too shocked to even think about what was happening. But, what came next had left her heart to sink. 

"Well, I know I should have done this way long ago, but I failed. I failed to realize what you mean to me a little earlier than I did. But, as the saying goes, better late than never. So, here I'm with all my heart to tell you what you mean to me. Do you want to know? Of course, you want. Then listen...." 

Roli's heart almost stopped beating as she heard Sid's voice from the video in the laptop placed before Ritika. She tightly held on to the door knob to contain herself as she waited to know what he was going to say next.

"You are my world, my life, my love, my everything and... I love you. I love you more than you can ever imagine" Sid confessed with a gentle smile which was really rare. 

Roli's hold on the door knob got loosened as she heard him saying the words which she had always wished him to say. Well, he said. But, not for her. For someone else. 

Was it really for someone else? 

Sid continued speaking, but nothing was heard by Roli as she took backward steps and left the room. Her vision got blurred with tears forming in her eyes. She felt her head dizzying out and ground beneath her shattering. She walked like a lifeless body without any destination. 

What all she had witnessed just now felt like a nightmare. She so wished it to be a mere nightmare. But, no. It was not! What all she had seen and heard was real. 

But, though it was real, was it the truth?

Sid's words started ringing in her mind as Roli reached her car. She could not believe he could say those words to anyone else. She knew him. She knew he loved her and cared for her more than himself. So, she knew it couldn't be true. 

But, what if it was true? What if he really realized his actual feelings for Ritika? The mere thought had sent a dagger piercing through her heart. 

Though it would hurt her more than the death itself, still she would be willing to leave him if his happiness was with someone else. After all, his happiness was the only thing she'd always wished for since she fell in deep love with him. 

But, what if he was faking it to make her leave him? It was the most possible scenario as he was already worried of Naina hurting her because of him. 

The moment Roli was decided to believe it all as an act, Sid's gentleness and that intense in his voice when he said those words rang again in her mind. His smile and the spark in his eyes when he confessed didn't seem like an act. But, rather it all felt more than real and even more magical. 

Roli closed her eyes while the tears flowed down without any break. After a few minutes, she wiped off her tears, opened the car door and took drivers' seat. 

If this was what he wanted, then be it so. If he really wanted her to leave and doing all these things to make her leave, she was not going to stay either. As she knew, relationships cannot be forced. Though two people have undying love between them, if they are not willing to stay then it's better to let them go. 

Roli was literally tired! Tired of convincing him. She was willing to take any risk coming her way to be with him. But, he was willing to let her go. 

Or atleast she thought he was! 

The moment she realized he was doing all these damn things just to make her leave, she could feel her heart burning in rage. Though she knew he was doing it for her own safety, she couldn't help but feel angered. And she knew she was not going to forgive him for what he had just done. 

With her heart shattered in to numerous pieces, Roli had made a decision, which would break her even more. A decision of not looking back at him ever again!

~×~ Present ~×~

After taking that harsh decision, Roli was no longer her old self. She stopped talking much as it always reminded her of Sid's scoldings to shut her mouth. No matter what she did, she couldn't erase the memories of him. And her love for him was still as deep as it was before. Three years of distance could not change anything in her love.

Now after three years of staying in US, she returned to India to make her dad's dream project a big success. It was a venture planned by Jamnalal and Rajender from long back, which got delayed due to their kids' relationship taking a bitter turn. 

It was when Roli accidentally happened to see the project file and decided to continue it. It wasn't an easy task for her to take on this responsibility, not because of the hardwork she had to do for it, but because she had to return to the place where her life had stopped and return to the person with whom her everything lies. 

But, the moment she met him, she was shocked to witness a new angle of him. One that she was unaware of. Or perhaps, the one that never existed before. He was completely a different person now. 

However, his new side was not what surprised her, but his words and his behaviour. He was behaving like nothing had happened and trying to woo her back in his life when he himself made her to leave. 

Roli felt her head aching when she thought about his changed behaviour. Shoving his thoughts away, she tried to concentrate on work as she opened a file on the desk before her. 

But, even before she could shove off his thoughts, he himself entered her cabin with his usual charming smile, making her go weak on her knees.

"Thinking about me?" Sid winked at her with a killer smile as he sat across her. 

Ignoring his words and his smile, which was affecting her deeply, Roli asked with a straight face "we don't have any meeting today. Why are you here now?". 

"Really? I thought we have a really important meeting today" Sid made a serious expression as if he was trying to remember something very significant.

Roli frowned at him as she could not recall scheduling any meeting for the day as she was busy with some other project.

"Oh! Now I got it..." Sid suddenly said as if he got reminded of something "you were supposed to reply me yesterday, but got disturbed. Let's do it now". 

Roli fell in to silence as she was reminded of his words from the previous day. He was asking for her to come back in his life. She was literally in dilemma at his words. 

He was the one, who made her to leave in the first place and now he himself asking her to comeback. What does he even want? Roli was perplexed. 

"Where are you lost?" Sid asked taking her hand in his. Roli immediately snapped back to her senses and tried to pull back her hand from him.

"Don't!" Sid said in a stern voice as he held on to her hand firmly. "I'm never gonna leave it" he spoke, pointing at her hand which was caged in between his palms. 

"Really?" Roli's tone turned sarcastic. If it was not for his stupid act, she would never had left him. And here he was saying he would never leave her. She really had to suppress the urge of beating him when she heard him say that.
