Chapter 54

Roli could not just sleep at night as her mind was engrossed with the incident happened in the function. From the moment she returned home, she just couldn't stop thinking about it. 

Sid wanted to stay with her but had to leave due to some urgent work. Though she assured him that she was fine to lest him from being worried, she could not help but think about the incident. 

*Leave Sid before it's too late* 

These words kept echoing in her ears, making her worried as well as scared. 

Keeping a break to her pensive thoughts, her phone beeped near the pillow, grabbing her attention. It was a picture sent by Sid. Roli jerked looking at the weird picture which was too scary to look at. Being scared as hell, roli was about to reply when she received a video call from him. 

"Why did you send that stupid picture?" Roli yelled at him, still being scared. 

"Just to check whether you are sleeping or not" closing his laptop, Sid answered casually as he leaned back on to the couch, holding the phone. He wanted to check on her if she's fine or still thinking about that incident. Considering the time, however, he did not want to disturb her in the middle of the night. He just sent a message to check and found her online so, he called her. 

"Is this a way to check on someone? By sending such stupid image?" Roli railed at him. 

"What's wrong with the image? I found it's cute so shared to you" Sid replied innocently, controlling his giggle. 

"Cute? That's scary" Roli corrected as she stared at him through the screen. 

"Oh yeah, kids will find almost everything scary" Sid commented, making her pissed. 

"Did you call me in the middle of the night to irritate me?" Roli frowned. 

"What else do you think it is for then?" Sid laughed, annoying her even more. 

"Keep laughing like a beast. I'm not gonna talk to you" Roli huffed and looked away from him. While he laughed even more watching her tantrums. 

"You have said that many times but couldn't do it" Sid knew she could not stay without talking to him. 

"But, I will do it now" roli replied in a challenging tone. 

"So, finally I can live peacefully" Sid continued to pull her legs as he tried to divert her mind from that incident as much as he could. 

Roli glanced at him through the corner of her eyes and found him smirking at her. Glaring at him, she muttered under her breath "kadoos". 

"You can curse me later, now go to sleep" Sid ordered as he got relaxed after finding her normal and not being worried about that incident. 

"I won't sleep. Why should I listen to you?" Looking straight at him, roli behaved like an annoyed kid. 

"Won't you?" Sid looked at her with stern face and asked demandingly. 

"Sleeping. Bye" roli admitted her defeat before his domineering nature and resigned. 

After talking to Sid, though they only bickered throughout the call, roli still felt a lot better and drifted in to sleep soon. On the other hand, Sid could not find peace. He was relieved that Roli was fine but, the fact that someone was targeting her was making him restless. 

Suddenly, his phone started ringing. Glancing at the caller ID, Sid immediately answered "did you find out anything?". 

"Yeah. It's true that Naina has went on vacation with her friends. She's not there in Delhi" the person from other side replied. 

"Okay. Thank you for finding it out and sorry for disturbing you in this late night" Sid said, suppressing his rage. 

"It's okay buddy" the person responded, genuinely. 

Ending the call, Sid had thrown his phone on to couch as he held his hair, venting out his anger. He was sure that the person who was trying to attack Roli was Naina. But, to his surprise he got to know that Naina was not there in the city but she was on vacation out of India. He asked his classmate to clarify about the same. And now it seemed that the information about Naina being out of India for vacation to be true. 

Who else could it be if not Naina? Sid was at the edge of losing his cool thinking about it. No matter how much he had tried to think but, he could not find anyone else who would try to hurt Roli for him. 

After spending a sleepless night, sid got ready early in the morning the next day and reached the event place along with Roli. He informed whatever happened to Sameer and asked to arrange surveillance cameras in the hall. Except RoSid and Sameer, no one else knew about it as Sid didn't tell to anyone to not to disturb the celebration mood for all. 

Perhaps, due to the highly guarded hall, the person attacking Roli, could not get the chance to take any step. Hence, nothing unpleasant happened at the time of mehandi and sangeet functions, making Sid a bit relieved.

But, the things took a drastic turn on the wedding day of Nitesh and Ruchi. 

Sid never allowed roli to be out of his sight and stayed always around her. They both stood at side while Nitesh and Ruchi were performing rituals on the mandap. Arun came near Sid and dragged him to mandap to accompany him in teasing Nitesh. 

A couple of minutes after Sid had moved away from her, Roli received a phone call. She tried to answer but due to the music system in the hall and others chattering, she couldn't listen from the other side so she walked away to answer the call. 

Finally, Roli reached the garden where there was no disturbance. However, strangely she did not receive any response from the other end though she kept calling out for the caller. 

When Roli was engaged in trying to get a response from the caller, a woman covering herself with a black cloth, appeared behind roli. 

Sid, who just looked back at the place where he and Roli were standing a while ago, got tensed when he found Roli was missing. Hurriedly, he got off the mandap and went to search for her. 

In the garden, Roli did not seem to realize the person's presence behind her and was still on her phone. The woman slowly raised her hand which was holding a sharp knife. 

At the same time, Sameer, who was monitoring his staff, reached the garden while giving instructions to one of his staff members over walkie-talkie. He got froze the moment he saw the scene playing before him. 

"Roli" Sameer called out loudly, grabbing her attention as well as the woman's attention, who was standing behind roli and was almost ready to pierce the knife at her. 

Both Roli and the woman turned to Sameer. Roli frowned as she could not understand why he was shouting. While the woman looked petrified as she watched Sameer staring at her face and before either roli or Sameer could react anything, she turned around and ran away from the place. 

"Are you fine?" Sameer asked with concern, reaching her. 

"Yeah, I'm fine. What happened?" Roli was still oblivious of the danger she was in just a while ago. The woman ran away before roli could turn back and see her. So, she still did not know about the woman's presence. 

By the time Sid too reached there. "What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you not to leave the hall?" He started lecturing Roli and finally let out a breath of relief after finding her safe. 

"I just came out to answer a call" roli pouted at his shout. 

"Did anything happen? I heard you shouting roli's name" turning to Sameer, Sid asked. If not for Sameer shouting her name, Sid wouldn't have reached the garden. 

Sameer did not reply to Sid but looked at the direction in which the woman just got disappeared. Though she was covered with black cloth completely, her face got a little uncovered when she jerked at his shout. He was still in shock as he recalled the woman's face. He could not believe she would try to harm roli.
