The long-standing feud between two of India’s biggest music stars, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah, has resurfaced after Honey Singh recently took a jab at Badshah's rapping skills. This rivalry, which appeared to have cooled down last year, has now taken center stage again, with Honey Singh throwing shade at Badshah’s lyrics through a playful Instagram post.
The tension reignited when Honey Singh shared a clip from the popular reality show Indian Idol, where Badshah showcased his freestyle rapping talents alongside judges Vishal Dadlani and Shreya Ghoshal. In the clip, Badshah performed lines like “Dilli ka golgappa, Mumbai se bhelpuri, Chandigarh ki lassi ko gadd gadd pi jaate hai.” Honey Singh wasted no time in taking a dig at these lyrics, writing in his Instagram story, “Aise lyrics likhwane hai bass taqdeer ban jayegi meri” (Such lyrics will make my fortune), accompanied by a laughing emoji. Badshah has yet to respond to this latest taunt.
Honey Singh and Badshah’s rivalry dates back many years, starting when both were part of the now-disbanded rap group Mafia Mundeer, which also included artists like Raftaar, Ikka, and Lil Golu. What started as a collaborative relationship eventually turned sour, leading to public jabs and online clashes. Over time, both artists have taken indirect shots at each other through their music and social media, though they seemed to have put the beef behind them until now.
In the past, Honey Singh acknowledged that his issues with Raftaar were also part of the feud, with Raftaar releasing more diss tracks aimed at him than Badshah. However, Singh has also expressed respect for Raftaar’s talent, something he hasn’t extended to Badshah as openly.
Interestingly, Badshah has previously commented on Honey Singh’s well-publicized struggles with mental health. In a podcast, Badshah mentioned how unfortunate it was for Honey Singh to go through such a tough phase. He also touched on his own experiences with mental health, stressing the importance of staying mentally strong in the competitive music industry.
As both artists continue to dominate the music scene, this recent jab suggests that their rivalry may not be over just yet. Fans of both stars will be eager to see how this latest chapter in their long-standing feud unfolds.
