Forget giving time to others; we hardly give time to ourselves, says actress Yashashri Masurkar. She adds that we need to be more mindful of how we use our time.

“Life has become so fast-paced that we hardly pay attention to our own needs. We don't have much time to dedicate to someone else. It’s difficult to maintain a relationship. Talk, you build a solid foundation by communicating,” she says.

She adds, “We are just running and we forget to listen to our bodies and minds. We don’t even fully process what we are feeling. We distract ourselves from the issue; that’s what we are doing when we are scrolling on the phone or casually dating. We look for temporary relief.”

She says that today the meaning of friendships has also changed. “Friendship needs dedicated time to build and since we are mostly working, we tend to be friends with people around us because it’s easy, we are always seeing each other so no extra effort is needed,” she says.

She adds, “Earlier, we used to spend time doing nothing with friends, you know just talking and chilling. Now, if you are meeting someone, it has to be like an event or something. We have forgotten the authenticity a friendship and human connection can bring to us. The other day, I was talking to an auto driver for a whole hour and I learnt so much in that one-hour ride. If I had been scrolling or doing something on my phone, I would have missed out on that great conversation…that’s why it’s important to be present in the moment.”
