When Virat Kohli felt like a 'idiot' post meeting first time with Anushka Sharma: 'I said something silly…'

However, their initial meeting was far from picture-perfect. In fact, it was filled with awkwardness, nervous energy, and a joke that fell flat. During a 2019 interview with American sports journalist Graham Bensinger, Virat revealed the details of their first encounter, which took place during a commercial shoot. He admitted to feeling extremely anxious, particularly after being told that Anushka might be taller than him and being advised to casually suggest she skip the high heels for the shoot.

Virat Kohli recalled that Anushka wore shoes with a small heel as he suggested, but she still appeared taller, making him uncomfortable. Attempting to lighten the mood, he cracked a joke, but it only amplified the awkwardness.

“But she just gave me a look and said, ‘Excuse me?’ I immediately realized I had messed up and tried to laugh it off. Inside, I felt like a complete idiot," he recalled.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma exchanged vows in a private, intimate ceremony in December 2017 in Italy, away from the prying eyes of the public. Their wedding was a beautiful, understated affair, attended only by close family and friends. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Vamika, in January 2021. They welcomed a son, Akaay, to their family in 2024. The couple now divides their time between Mumbai and London. Both her kids still remains away from the camera.
