Recently, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor became the first celebrity to appear on Neha Dhupia’s chat show No Filter Neha season 4. From revealing why Misha didn’t recognise him when he was shooting for Padmaavat, recasting his movies and choosing between directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Vishal Bhardwaj, the actor revealed pretty interesting details.
While talking about the time when his daughter Misha Kapoor, (born in 2015) who was one-and-a-half-years-old at the time, failed to recognise him while he was shooting for Padmaavat, Shahid shared that he had an identity crisis because she didn’t recognise him.
Explaining what had happened, he revealed that his wife Mira Rajput Kapoor and Misha were staying at her maternal house. When the 38-year-old actor reached there he was quite excited and desperate to spend some time with Misha, but the little munchkin didn’t recognise her own father (because he had shaved off his beard) and had started to cry. As quoted by Koimoi, Shahid said,
I had an identity crisis because she didn’t recognize me! It was at Mira’s parents’ house, I reached there probably a day or two after they had reached because I was just finishing some stuff up, and she just refused to recognize me. She was what, 1.5 at that time and I was dying to hold her and meet her and run around with her and talk to her and she was with the maid taking a walk in the garden, and Mira had gone to meet some relatives, and I reached early and I wanted to take her in my arms and she came to me and started crying. And then when I was talking to her, she was staring at my mouth and looking at my face and it was not making sense to her because she was like I know that voice but I don’t know this face, I didn’t have my beard. I do look different with and without my beard. It does make a big difference; I shouldn’t have done it like this.- Shahid on not being recognised by Misha

During the same chat show when asked which Bollywood celebrity he would recast in his movies, Shahid shared that he would like to see Alia Bhatt as Geet in Jab We Met, Salman Khan as Prem in Vivaah and Vicky Kaushal as Guddu in Kaminey. The actor further went on to reveal that he would cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn (the cast of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam) as the 3 main leads of Padmaavat.
In the past sixteen years of his Bollywood career, Shahid Kapoor has worked with an array of directors. When asked to choose between Vishal Bhardwaj (both collaborated for Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali (both collaborated for Padmaavat), the Kabir Singh actor chose Bhardwaj because he has achieved more with their movies than with SLB.
As quoted by Koimoi, Shahid revealed, “For me, Vishal Bhardwaj. But I think they both are brilliant in their own spaces but as an actor I think I have been able to achieve more with Vishal Bhardwaj and I think we have been able to collaborate more on roles which had more merit but I have great respect for Sanjay Sir.”
