One of the most popular sci-fi and supernatural show Baalveer Returns had to face the brunt of the extended and uncertain lockdown due to the second wave of the novel coronavirus. The makers decided to shut the show abruptly. India Forums got in touch with the actor Dev Joshi and spoke to him about the show’s closure, his take away from the lockdown and much more. Read below.

What was your reaction after learning about Baalveer Returns going off-air?

It was a surprising moment for me and all of us, as it was unplanned and we were already planning to shoot in outskirts of Maharashtra for a new story. However, whatever decision was taken is for safety of all of us keeping in mind the current and future scenarios.

Which was your favorite track from the show?

The entire show was full of new stories and unexpected twists and tracks, however the season 2 which we started with my 7 characters, is one of my favorites. Getting to play the main antagonist Kaal with a complete opposite character of Happy Pandey, was quite challenging and fun at the same time. We had a wonderful story in pipeline, but unfortunately, we had to go off air.

What kind of roles are you looking forward in the future?

Whatever awaits in the future is in future, so I always prefer to wait for the best role. I am quite choosy with my work, so let's see what options I get ahead. Also I am working on some of my personal projects.

Tell us about your craziest fan encounter.

Portraying a superhero character on National Television, gave me a chance of direct bonding with each of the viewer and hence whenever I get to meet them, it’s special. All the experiences till now have been worth remembering.

How are you dealing with the pressures of COVID and lockdown?

Well, honestly, it's a time to take a break and have an insight of ourselves. Instead of getting depressed and feeling alone, we should try to learn new hobbies, interact with unknowns from around the world through social media and sharpen our skills. Personally, I learned mythologies from different countries, learned cooking with my mom, had some business classes from my Dad and developed a new Hobby of writing poems and shayaris. So, this lockdown and Covid-19 has been hard for all of us, but I made this time productive as much as I can!

Good going, Dev!

Was extremely sad with the closure of Baalveer Returns. Loved Anahita Bhooshan as Ananya.
