We need to STOP sensationalizing things; Karan Wahi speaks up on the 'Pehredaar Piya Ki' controversy

Sony TV show, Pehredaar Piya Ki has been in the news for quite some time now. And, it all started when social media went berserk on seeing the story of a 9-year-old kid getting married to an 18-year-old girl.

And, amidst all of this, actor Karan Wahi too, shared his views on the same which turned out to be a point of controversy ever since and it continues to be the same.

Here's what his post read -

Following this, with all the reviews and comments that the show was getting, the makers organized a press conference to address the issues which worsened the situation.

And, considering that it is high time that all of this ends, we contacted the actor, who started off saying, "I don't want to stretch this matter anymore since I have said whatever I wanted to. If the show is being trolled, it isn't my fault in that. Agar mere kehne pe cheeze troll honi chahiye, toh jo bhi main bolta hu, sab pe hona chahiye na? But, aisa nahi hai. I just shared an opinion and people might have the same opinion as well."

"I think it is time that we respect each others' opinions. We all have our own point of views and having different views does not make me or someone else wrong. According to them, my fault is that I was the first one to share and talk about it. But, I will still standby my opinion and if I want to say something further as well, I will," he further added.

When we quizzed him about the entire idea of a press conference being held and if that was really necessary, he said, "I was not there and I know nothing about it. They have their thought process and I have mine. I think the show is regressive, but if they don't it is good for them. They said I haven't seen the show, but how do they know I haven't? Maybe they kept the PC because they knew that things reached a point where it was needed. In retrospect, it is their opinion, and I don't have anything with it, if they think what I said was wrong, so be it."

Talking further about the entire issue, he said, "I don't proclaim that I do the best shows in the country; some are good, some are bad and it is just a part and parcel of our lives."

On how he made his point on social media and not in a hush-hush affair, he elaborated about how he just voiced his opinion, "I am trying to be a changed person and voice things that we otherwise talk about at parties.

They talk about me getting attention on doing all of this, but what they don't understand is that is it not in my hands. It was just my perspective and I didn't like the way the show was shot. And, even now, I don't have any qualms about sharing it."

Well, people do need to stop sensationalizing things and always blow them out of proportion, isn't it?
