"We kept a body double ready but eventually I did all the stunts on my own" - Drashti Dhami on 'Duranga' S2

After being one of the superstars on the small screen, actor Drashti Dhami is now making quite a mark on the big screen as well, where the actor is starring in multiple shows ranging from big-budget ventures like The Empire on Disney+ Hotstar to a gripping thriller like Duranga on Zee5.

And talking about the latter, the series is set and rolling to be back with a second season, which was always set to be the case owing to the brilliant cliffhanger that the show ended with in Season 1. In an exclusive conversation, Dhami went on to open up on her character arc, the similarities between herself and her character, Ira Patel and if she took inspiration for action sequences.

Q. How is your character arc growing from Season 1 to Season 2?

I think the character from season 1 to season 2 has become more curious; where she wants to find out the truth behind the serial killing case and whether her husband is behind it or not. However, she wants to give him the benefit of the doubt to come clean, and I think she just now wants an answer to what's going on.

Q. The character of Ira Patel is someone who juggles between her work and family. What are the similarities between Drashti Dhami and Ira Patel? 

I manage to create a balance very beautifully between my work and family. My family is as important to me as my work, and I think Iraa, my character, is very similar in that way because even she keeps her family as her priority, and so do I. 

Q. In the series, you are fighting with goons to protect your husband. Did you attend any workshops or take inspiration from anyone while performing action sequences? 

No, I work out regularly, and I am a hardcore buff, so that was the only training I took, and of course, my stunts were choreographed. We weren't sure if I would be able to do it, so we did keep a body double on standby, but eventually, I did all my shots on my own.

The poster of Duranga Season 2 has begun to create waves, and a release date for the season is yet to be confirmed.
