'The Kashmir Files' director Vivek Agnihotri, along with the cast and producer of the film, were in the national capital to speak with the media about the film's box office success.
He described the film as a testimonial to 700 Kashmiri Pandits, stating that it took him and his team four years to research and make the film, and that the Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) assisted him in finding and locating the Kashmiri Pandits, who were direct victims of the violence in Kashmir.
The director hinted at releasing a web series on the subject to release the 'heart-wrenching' material he collected.
Agnihotri said,
"We have so much material that we can produce a series. All accounts are heart-wrenching ones. These are human stories... We are thinking about it... We will come out with a series."
He further continued,
"The immense response that we got from the community was tremendous. These are all true accounts. Nobody knew about these. When we began with the thought, no one believed that this had happened with Kashmiri Hindus."
In just four days, the film has surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office. Celebrities ranging from Akshay Kumar to Yami Gautam, Kangana Ranaut, and others, have praised the film, which has been declared tax-free in some states.
No one can predict The Kashmir Files' box office number right now, as it could end up doing anywhere between Rs 75 crore to Rs 200 crore, and only the weekday trend will give an idea of where it is headed. The film will retain a significant number of screens in its second week as well, and trade experts are already referring to it as a 'Lambi Race Ka Ghoda.'
