Vir Das to host 2024 International Emmy Awards after historic 2023 win

Vir Das will once again take the stage as the host for the 2024 International Emmy Awards on November 25. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recently announced that the comedian and Bollywood actor will lead the prestigious event in New York City. This marks an exciting return for Das, who previously won an International Emmy for his Netflix comedy special, Vir Das: Landing in 2023.

This hosting gig follows Das’s earlier win, adding to his long list of accomplishments. In 2021, he had also been nominated in the Comedy category, showcasing his talent for humor that has captivated audiences worldwide. Bruce L. Paisner, the President & CEO of the International Academy, shared his excitement, stating, “We’re delighted to welcome back Vir Das to our stage and to add International Emmy Host to his impressive list of talents. With his unique humor and perspective on the world, he now joins a distinguished group of Gala hosts over the years who fit in perfectly with our global audience.”

Vir Das shared the news on his Instagram, expressing his excitement: “Thanks to your support, an Indian Emmy Host I can’t wait to host the @iemmys this year! Crazy. Thank you for having me. Tremendously honoured and excited!” Alongside this hosting role, Das is currently on his Mind Fool tour, earning praise globally. His career spans various projects, including the ABC spy drama Whiskey Cavalier, the Netflix thriller Hasmokh, and the Amazon show Jestination Unknown.

In 2023, Das made history by winning an International Emmy for his Netflix special Vir Das: Landing, a moment he described as “surreal.” He shared the win with Derry Girls Season 3, with other strong contenders in the category. Recently, Das has also impressed audiences with his role as TV news anchor Satyajit Sen in Call Me Bae, streaming on Prime Video.
