Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report: OTT Release Details After Box Office Struggles

After a disappointing run at the box office, The Sabarmati Report, led by Vikrant Massey, is gearing up for its OTT release. Here's all you need to know about when and where the film will stream.

Following the success of 12th Fail, Vikrant Massey was expected to deliver yet another hit with The Sabarmati Report. However, the 2024 release, which centers on the Godhra train burning incident, failed to perform well, even though it was declared tax-free in several Indian states. With its theatrical run over, the political drama is set to make its way to digital platforms.

According to reports, The Sabarmati Report will stream online by early January 2025. Most Bollywood films arrive on OTT eight weeks after their theatrical release. As the movie hit theatres on November 15, 2024, audiences can expect its digital debut around January 15. However, an official confirmation from the filmmakers is still awaited.

The movie will reportedly premiere on ZEE5. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and distributed by Zee Studios, it’s logical for the film to release on the in-house streaming service.

The Sabarmati Report had a production budget of ?50 crores but managed to collect only ?36.03 crores at the box office, recovering just 72% of its costs. Unfortunately, it has been labeled a box office failure.

The film is based on the controversial Godhra train burning that occurred on February 27, 2024, involving the Sabarmati Express. While the makers aimed to reveal the "truth," the movie faced backlash for its neutral approach to such a sensitive topic.

In addition to Vikrant Massey, the film stars Riddhi Dogra and Raashii Khanna in significant roles. Fans now hope the film finds success in its digital run!
