Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur kickstart shooting for 'VD13' with grand launch event- Pics

Vijay Deverakonda has joined forces with director Parasuram for his upcoming project, currently referred to as VD13. The film commenced its shooting today, accompanied by an official puja ceremony held in Hyderabad. Playing the female lead is Mrunal Thakur, who garnered praise for her impressive debut in Telugu with the film Sita Ramam. Production on the yet-to-be-titled movie is set to begin shortly. 

Taking to Twitter, the film's makers shared several photos from the grand launch event of VD13, attended by the enthusiastic cast and crew. In the snapshots, Vijay Deverakonda can be seen sporting a fresh look, with a lean physique, shorter hairstyle, and trimmed beard. For the auspicious puja ceremony, he donned a green kurta paired with white pajamas. Mrunal Thakur looked stunning in an elegant peach-colored ethnic suit, marking her third venture in the Telugu film industry.

During the launch, the honorary clap was given by producer Shyam Prasad Reddy, while Govardhan Rao Deverakonda directed the inaugural shot, and renowned financier Satti Rangaiah switched on the camera. Presently, the film is in the pre-production stage, with shooting slated to commence soon. This upcoming venture signifies the second collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and director Parasuram. Their previous collaboration was the blockbuster romantic comedy Geetha Govindam in 2018, which featured Vijay alongside Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. 

Since the announcement of this film, it has been shrouded in controversy. In the meantime, Vijay Deverakonda will soon be seen sharing the screen with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, known for her role in Yashoda, in the upcoming romantic entertainer titled Kushi. Conceptualized and directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Scheduled for release on September 1, Kushi will be available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, offering a wider reach to the audience.
