Vidya's Dirty Picture!

Ever since word spread about the likelihood of Vidya Balan portraying the bold and beautiful late Southern actress, Silk Smitha, in an upcoming movie, crowds have been eager to witness this versatile and talented actress

If 2010's Ishqiya was an experiment on Balan's part with a completely off mainstream task, it sure paid off; and in turn seems to have emboldened Vidya to bear further risks. In a further attempt to break free from her demure and petite look, Vidya now steps into the shoes of Silk Smitha, who has been recognized in the past for the controversially bold images she chose to depict onscreen and for the intriguing mysteries of her personal life. Vidya is said to have worked diligently on a convincing screen presence depicting Smitha, in her hopes to reflect the unorthodoxy, and often publicly reproached audacity of the late Southern belle.

 

The film, being produced jointly by Milan Lutharia and Ekta Kapoor, also stars Naseruddin Shah, Emraan Hasmi and Tusshar Kapoor, and is slated to release on November 15th, this year.
