Vetrimaaran's 'Vada Chennai' has scope to be a multi-starrer

National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran's upcoming Tamil gangster drama "Vada Chennai", which currently only features Dhanush in the lead, has scope to include multiple stars, a source said.

While there have been rumours that actor Vijay Sethupathi and Jiiva have been roped in to essay important roles, the source says otherwise.

"The project so far only features Dhanush and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Contrary to the rumours, Vijay and Jiiva have not been signed on. But this story has scope to include multiple stars, so you never know who might join the project," the source, who's close to Vetrimaaran, told IANS.

With a multi-starrer, though, there'll always be date issues, pointed out the source.

"This is a huge project and since this will also be a two-part film, the actors are required to set aside months for shooting, and most stars will find it difficult as they're mostly busy with multiple projects in their kitty," the source said.

The film, which will be jointly produced by Dhanush and Vetrimaaran, will chronicle 30 years in the life of a gangster.
