Vaidehi Nair speaks about essaying a pivotal role in SKT's Srimad Ramayana

Vaidehi Nair, who was last seen in Colors TV's show Shiv Shakti is soon going to be seen in Siddharth Kumar Tewary's upcoming show Srimad Ramayana. The promos of the show have been creating a lot of buzz on the internet already. Vaidehi, who will be seen essaying the character of Urmila in the show got in an exclusive chat with India Forums and spoke about her character, managing her studies and the shoot and a lot more. 

Tell us something about your character in Ramayana?

In Ramayana, I play the character of Urmila, Lakshmana's wife. She is as dedicated to Sita as Lakshmana was to Rama. She was ready to accompany Lakshmana during their exile, however, Lakshmana asked her to stay back to look after his ageing parents.

Do you believe that taking on mythological roles early in an actor's career can be detrimental, considering the potential challenge of carrying that specific image forward?

While it is accurate that mythological serials often demand a specific image to be maintained, I personally don't see it as harmful in the long run. I have been primarily involved in limited-time roles, and I find that mythological roles provide valuable learning experiences.

How do you strike a balance between your academic commitments and your work on set, especially considering you are currently in the 12th grade?

Navigating both my studies and shoots in 12th grade has been a challenging task. Yet, I successfully maintained a balance during my 10th-grade board exams, achieving a commendable 92%. I am determined to apply the same approach to manage my 12th-grade studies.

My mother has been a consistent source of strength throughout these challenges. With her unwavering support and guidance, she actively contributes by creating notes and explaining concepts. In fact, she takes charge of planning my study schedule during my shoots. Additionally, my friends have been a tremendous support system, ensuring that I receive all the necessary notes and updates on daily lectures. Together, with this robust support network, I am confident in managing both my academic and professional commitments effectively.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In the next five years, my vision involves attaining notable success in my career. Recognizing that this is just the commencement of my journey, I acknowledge the extensive path that lies ahead. Undoubtedly, my ultimate aspiration is to venture into Bollywood films. I am dedicatedly putting in the effort to turn that dream into reality, and with faith and hard work, I am optimistic about realizing this aspiration in the near future.
