Vaani Kapoor goes dark for 'Mandala Murders'; Netflix announces release date

Netflix has quietly revealed the global streaming date for Mandala Murders the much-anticipated supernatural thriller created under the Yash Raj Films banner. Slated to premiere on 25 July 2025 the show marks a new chapter in the ongoing collaboration between the streamer and the storied production house.

Set in the fog-laced landscapes of a fictional hill town the six-episode narrative introduces audiences to a chilling series of homicides that are anything but ordinary. Behind the deaths lies a mysterious order whose influence stretches far beyond the present day. As investigators close in what begins as routine police work soon spirals into something far stranger.

The project comes from writer-director Gopi Puthran best known for his earlier work in the crime genre. Co-director Manan Rawat joins him in shaping the eerie world of Charandaspur where mythology and hidden agendas collide. Vaani Kapoor leads the cast as investigator Rea Thomas with Vaibhav Raj Gupta as Vikram Singh a character whose motivations may not be as clear as they first appear. Surveen Chawla steps into a pivotal role driving much of the conflict with her on-screen presence.

While principal filming concluded earlier this year the production returned to the outskirts of Mumbai for a short additional shoot. Sources close to the team indicated these scenes were added to enrich key plot points and sharpen tension before the final cut moved into the editing room.

Mandala Murders marks the fifth outing in the growing roster of titles under the Netflix-YRF alliance which began in 2023. The partnership has steadily expanded to include historical documentaries biopics and social dramas. This new entry however shifts the tone toward dark fiction with roots in ritualistic storytelling and cultural myths.

YRF insiders suggest Mandala Murders and an upcoming title Akka will form the spine of their global storytelling push through the next year. With a blend of suspense investigative drama and psychological intrigue this series looks poised to draw audiences looking for a twist beyond the obvious.
