For your old fashioned summer family time...

With the changing face of TV and the digital wave looming, most of us have forgotten what TV really meant for us. It meant a slice of entertainment that could be enjoyed with the entire family over dinner after a long day. Most of you must have grown up catching a few snatches from Kumkum and Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii (or family No.1, anyone?) because your dadi controlled the remote in the house.

Now that summer is upon us, we're having major throwbacks and so we're bringing some of the nostalgia back.

If your family loves watching TV, we have the perfect list of shows you can add to your watch list-

Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai

Starting up, we couldn't think of a better show that binds two generations together. The 90s audience can revive their memories of the yesteryear while the millennial have something refreshing to watch with this Sony TV show. Sameer (Randeep Rai) and Naina's (Ashi Singh) story is sweet and relatable and it's definitely something your entire family can enjoy.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

At this point, it would be surprising if this one isn't already on your list. Taarak Mehta and the entourage in Gokuldham has made its place in the hearts of comedy lovers and gujju families alike. With every episode buzzing with activity and the characters holding an iconic stature, we couldn't think of a more wholesome show to watch during the afternoons. This one has something for every family member.

Belan Wali Bahu

Krystle Dsouza's comeback show Belan Wali Bahu is a genuinely funny comedy and adding to it, it's clean! This show is inspired by the kind of slapstick comedy you would see on a theatre stage and that works for the show. It has some hilarious characters and Roopa is just adorable as the clumsy bahu. The show also has some brilliant comedy scenes that are sure to crack you up.

Kya Haal Mr Panchal

This one turns the comedy genre on its head and gives us not one but 5 characters who have amazing comic timing. The show is a definite family entertainer. It focuses on daily nok-jhoks in a typical Indian home, except it's happening with 5 bahus. Every bahu brings a unique flavour of comedy and watching a show about a total mad-house should definitely be on the agenda for a pass time.
Tenali Rama

Tenali Rama is a delightful character and there's no denying that his adventures navigating through the kingdom of Vijaynagar are timeless. While most of you must have watched Tenali Rama's animated version (the catchy soundtrack, anyone?) as children or read comic strips on his funny stories, you can now watch him in live action on Sony TV. Its a classic the whole family is guaranteed to enjoy.

Speaking of classics, Khichdi attained quite the cult status as it became instantly popular with audiences. The show went on to rope in two movies and now it's going to be back on Star Plus. Most of us can still mouth lines by Hansa and Praful and before we could forget, they're back with another serving of steaming hot Khichdi. We can't wait to see how the upcoming show turns out. Check it out if you and your family want to revel in nostalgia this summer.
