A tragic incident has emerged on the sets of the TV serial 'Imlie' on Tuesday. A 23 year old labourer has lost his life due to an electric shock. An official statement from the authorities has also been released regarding this unfortunate incident. The police have revealed that the shooting of the 'Imlie' serial was in progress on the set when a 23-year-old laborer suffered an electric shock, resulting in his demise. Some claim that this death occurred due to a heart attack.
The deceased individual has been identified as Mahendra Yadav, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh. Abhijeet Rane, the General Secretary of the Film Workers Union, stated that this incident took place during the shooting of the 'Imli' television serial, produced by 4 Lions Films Private Limited, in Goregaon Film City on Tuesday.
Rane said, "Mahendra Yadav was a resident of Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh. We have made arrangements to transport his body to his home for the final rites. I have personally discussed this matter with the entire team and the family. They are trying to provide compensation and insurance money to the deceased's family. They are also in talks with the makers regarding this."
He further mentioned that when he raised the issue with the producers, they claimed that Yadav's death occurred due to a heart attack. However, other crew members argued that he was struck by lightning, and he immediately collapsed. The exact cause of death will be known once the post-mortem report is available.
B.N. Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, suspects that this could be a case of negligence, as there still seems to be inadequate safety measures on the sets of such shoots.
The police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the incident. The All India Cine Workers Association has demanded a compensation of Rs. 50 lakhs for all those found responsible for Yadav's death and has called for police action.
Team India Forums extends our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.
