Tinseltown's Fresh Faces '10

Here is the list of fresh faces who made their entrance into Bollywood in 2010...

Bollywood won't be the same industry we love and adore without the numerous fresh faces that grace the big screens with their appearances. While some may be successful and mark their place in the industry, others don't quite achieve the same success and eventually fade away.

Without further ado, here is the list of fresh faces who made their entrance into Bollywood in 2010.

Sonakshi Sinha
Debut Film: Abhinav Kashyap's Dabangg.
Background: The daughter of Shatrughan and Punam Sinha, Sonakshi was previously a model with no intentions of becoming an actress. It wasn't until Salman Khan noticed her that she finally stepped into Bollywood.
Verdict: With the support she's received from her co-star Salman Khan and her parents, Sonakshi has definitely gained a skill set that she'll be able to use to work in the industry. Commonly described to be 'stunningly pretty', as first stated by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, we surely hope that she marks her spot in Bollywood.

Zarine Khan
Debut Film: Anil Sharma's Veer
Background: It was just one recommendation from Salman Khan that landed Zarine into Bollywood, despite having no family connections in the industry that might help her in the future.
Verdict: We are not being coy when we say Zarine is somewhat of a look-a-like of Katrina Kaif and perhaps this resemblance will be her downfall. Remember  when Salman launched Sneha Ullal who looked strikingly similiar to Aishwarya Rai? Whatever happened to her? Though Zarine might have Salman's support now, it will not aid her forever.

Pakhi Tyrewala
Debut Film: Abbas Tyrewala's Jhootha Hi Sahi
Background: Pakhi was last seen in Hansal Mehta's Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai which was classified as a sex comedy; but that movie's been long forgotten now, if remembered at all. Not many know but Pakhi is actually the wife of Abbas Tyrewala and also received the opportunity to be a casting director during Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.
Verdict: Being a casting director, Pakhi wrote the script of the film herself; keeping herself in mind for the role. Co-star John Abraham believes that Pakhi is very sensational, we'll probably have to take his word on this one.

Barbara Mori
Debut Film: Anurag Basu's Kites
Background: Barbara is a hugely sucessful Mexican actress and model.
Verdict: We applaud Barbara for trying her hand at a Hindi film despite the language difference; but in the end, it all comes down to the fact that she's been seen in the news way too many times for controversies! Most of these controversies go along with her being too close to co-star Hrithik Roshan. While it would be interesting to see her stick to the Indian film industry, it just feels like her stay here would not be for long.

Trisha Krishnan
Debut Film: Priyadarshan's Khatta Meetha
Background: Although Trisha is new to Bollywood, she isn't so new to the camera. Just like Asin, Trisha hails from the South where she is a huge star.
Verdict: Luckily for her, she gained support from Akshay Kumar. Back in the past, Akshay's support went out more for the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif, who are now equally talented actresses in Bollywood. Along with that, it just seems that actresses from the South don't seem to fail when they set foot in the industry due to similar experiences shared. We would like to wish Trisha well for her future in Bollywood.

Shraddha Kapoor
Debut Film: Leena Yadav's Teen Patti
Background: We all have our easy ways ins. Shraddha managed to make her entrance in Bollywood with the support of her dad, Shakti Kapoor. Along with that, her aunt is the ever beautiful actress, Padmini Kolhapure. With such well known counterparts in her family, surely stepping into Bollywood wasn't such a hard task?
Verdict: With Amitabh Bachchan starring in her debut project, Shraddha should reign in all the valuable knowledge the Big B has to shed and consider herself lucky. But is this enough to keep her successful? Only time will tell. Till then, best of luck to the lass!

Monikangana Dutta
Debut Film: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish
Background: This stunning actress came right from the ramp as a model. With no fear in front of the camera, Guzaarish is her first acting venture.
Verdict: While she did manage to become part of the cast in Guzaarish, we have to consider the size of the role she held opposite Hrithik Roshan. Even though she was seen in the movie for a relatively short duration, the actress showed promising talent. Plus, having the experience of starring in a Bhansali film might be advantageous for her career!

Surya Sivakumar
Debut Film: Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra.
Background: Surya makes his entry into Bollywood by being the son of Sivakumar, a Tamil actor who holds a prominent career back in the country.
Verdict: Like other Southern actors making their entry to Bollywood, it seems that Surya hasn't been able to create the desired impact one would wish. In comparison to past actors that have come from the South - Shivaji Ganesan, Kamal Hassan and Rajnikath - who barely survived a formal career in Bollywood, we feel that Surya holds only a slight chance in keeping afloat in Bollywood.

Vikram Kennedy
Debut Film: Mani Ratnam's Raavan.
Background: Vikram isn't all that unknown as you might think he is. In fact, Vikram is a mega Tamil and Malyalam star just happening to make his debut in Bollywood with Raavan.
Verdict: Though Vikram decided to make his entry in Bollywood with Mani Ratnam's Ravaan, there are many doubts as to whether he'll stick or not. Age isn't a helping factor with him being 43 - not a prime entry point into the industry. Maybe if he came a few years ago he could've made it, but right now, it's way too late to make too much of an impact.

Debut Film: YRF's Band Baaja Baraat.
Background: A fresher, for Ranveer is a never seen before face - not in terms of how unique he looks (frankly, we actually thinks he bears resemblance to the popular Ranbir Kapoor in certain ways) but on account of the fact that this YRF project is his very first step into the glamour world. No modelling, no adverts, no ramp shows, not even behind the scenes. The lad is an absolute newbie.
Verdict: Despite all that we said about his being a first timer in every respect, one must admit that with his debut movie itself, Ranveer makes a mark! YRF can be proud of having discovered a gold mine of talent, cause given his first ever onscreen appearance being such a spectacular entertainer, one can envisage Ranveer Singh shall go places and be someone!
