'There is no hard and fast rule to success' - Hussain Kuwajerwala

Hussain Kuwajerwala, one of television's most popular TV star is not only a good actor but an excellent anchor as well. A combination of talent and versatility, Hussain talks about the format of reality shows and playing a college kid in Kumkum in an unplugged interview with Telly Buzz.

You are reality show expert; have won Nach Baliye, anchored the same show and Indian Idol 3, now participating in Yeh Hai Jalwa, is there is any magic formula that you would like to share with your co-contestants?

There is no hard and fast rule to success. You just have to work hard and always be innovative. Even now, I cannot sleep properly before the event for you never know when you can be knocked out of the competition. I just hope it does not happen in Jalwa though having come so far.

How is your equation with your team in Yeh Hai Jalwa?
We have become very comfortable over time. I am not strict with them, but yes, I stress a lot on rehearsals. Some times, I inspire them, while at other times I get a kick seeing them really bend their back.

The entire Rakhi Sawant episode in Jalwa was in bad taste.
I am not that the right person to comment on this. I think only the creative team can give you the best answer.

Are reality shows rigged?
I would not want to comment on something about which I do not have full knowledge. Agreed sometimes the best talent does not win but that is the format. Similar accusations are made about cricket as well, but you also wonder, can such matches really be tanked?

Indian idol 4?
I am quite looking forward to anchoring Indian Idol 4. Though I will not be part of the audition phase this time around since "Yeh Hai Jalwa is still on and its not possible to do both. It is great to see the contestants grow from zero to hero in a matter of months. My job is to help and comfort them along the way.

It has been alleged that winners are carried away by instant success. What is your take on this?
It does happen. However, that is a very personal choice and varies from person to person.

Your reincarnation avatar in Kumkum is that of a college kid.
Its much better then playing a father’s role, which I could not do convincingly. Moreover, I am just 30 years old yaar. People my age still go to school and are studying. Further when big film stars can play roles of characters that are 20 years younger, why target only me?
