"There are no coincidences": Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Growth After Divorce from Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez, the 55-year-old pop icon, believes that life’s challenges are intentional, designed to help individuals grow and evolve. Speaking to British Vogue, Lopez reflected on overcoming hardships, including her divorce from Ben Affleck, emphasizing her philosophy that difficulties serve a purpose.

“I think the way I overcome things is not by thinking of them as happening to me but happening for me and what is the lesson that needs to be learned in the moment,” Lopez shared.

Adopting a mindset of positivity, she explained, “When I think of things that way and stay in … more positive mindset about it, it’s easier to kind of embrace it for the lesson that it is.”

For Lopez, life’s hardships are opportunities for self-improvement. “There are no coincidences. This is not happening, you know, just randomly. It’s happening for a reason. What can I learn and how can I come out the other side better, stronger, more knowledgeable and kind of evolve and grow from this point?” she added.

On Rekindling and Letting Go

In a candid conversation with Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, Lopez also spoke about rekindling her relationship with Affleck in 2021, nearly two decades after their initial split. However, the reconciliation ended in separation once again.

“That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good,” she revealed. “It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F**k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long … You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again.’”

The couple’s second chapter came to an official end when Lopez filed for the dissolution of their marriage in Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 20, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of their Georgia wedding.

Through it all, Lopez remains steadfast in her belief that challenges are stepping stones to growth, proving once again why she’s not just a star but a survivor.
