There are intense emotions in the series of characters: Leena Jumani on Tic Toc Timeout

Leena Jumani plays the role of Tanya in the vertical show Tic Toc Timeout. It revolves around a renowned surgeon, Dr Rahul, who is guilt-ridden over his son’s death during surgery. He hires a mysterious service called How to Die Smiling to end his life in seven days. As the end nears, he meets Tanya, and they fall in love—giving him a reason to live. However, the countdown is irreversible.

Talking about the show, she said, “The characters in the series go through intense emotions. But the idea is to show humans make mistakes, whether it’s intentionally or unintentionally, but there are irreversible consequences that you have to face.”

When asked about the fine line between personal grief and professional responsibility that Dr Rahul dealt with, “Well, sometimes emotional burden is so heavy that it is very difficult to focus on your professional life. You just take one day at a time.”

But what’s haunting is the name of the service he uses—How to Die Smiling. The actress spoke about the symbolic resonance and said, “He tried to kill himself a few times but couldn’t. So he hired an agency (dark web) to kill him, but he wanted to end his life with a smile on his face. This is what he wanted.”

On Tanya’s entry into Dr Rahul’s life that marks an important milestone in his life, she said, “This relationship was to give him a smile while he dies.”

Tic Toc Timeout is a vertical series, and it was her first experience shooting for it. She said, “It was my first experience shooting vertically, and there are some restrictions on framing, but being an actor, I was acting the same way I would have acted in horizontal.”

Ultimately, Leena concluded with her take on love and fate and said, “Love can give you hope to live again. And sometimes fate can change too, but only if we are willing to change it.”
