The word ‘home' has different connotations for different people. It can be a piece of land, your family, a hobby, or a way of expressing yourself., however, universally, is a place one comes back to for peace at the end of the day. Home is equivalent to a feeling of belonging, that which completes us. For many people who feel the pull of their roots and come back, it’s all about homecoming. Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi, SonyLIV’s upcoming original, is all set to bring one such heart-warming story about homecoming. Set against the backdrop of a small town in Bihar, the series revolves around Nirmal Pathak (Vaibhav Tatwawadi), a young novelist who is back in his hometown after 24 years.
The show answers many questions that are being overlooked by today’s youth in the hustle of buzzing city life. In today’s fast-paced world, where making a mark for yourself is the only thing that the youth are taught to blindly chase, what often gets neglected is the very family that gives shape to our being.
Akash Makhija plays Aatish Pathak, the boisterous cousin of Nirmal, who, upon being reunited with his brother, starts idolising him despite their not-so-pleasant family history. "For Aatish, his family was his safe place and, in a way, his home. With his brother's return, it became complete," said Akash.
Commenting on the theme of homecoming as portrayed in the story, he went on to say, "Home means family. It is not restricted to four walls. It is where your loved ones are. Today, when the youth is at a higher risk of getting alienated from their culture and people, this kind of a story is the need of the hour. The show will guide people towards realising the importance of reconnecting with family and how they shape up one’s life. Its about coming back to where you belong and doing things for your own."
