Deepti Saha, who has appeared in several episodes of Savdhan India, apart from Crime Patrol, Channel V Secret Diaries, etc was recently spotted at Harmandir Sahib or the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The petite actress was in the Holy City to anchor a talent hunt show 'First Cut 2016' for her television actor friend Amit Dua from Banoo Main Teri Dulhan (Zee TV), Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat and Annu Ki Ho Gayi Wah Bhai Wah on Star Plus, and Savdhan India. The show chose talent from Punjab in singing, acting, and dancing who would be starring with television actors in short films, documentary films, music videos and even TV shows.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma creative supervisor Krunal Khakhkhar, National Award winning producer Veenu Bhushan Vaid, model Rina S. Charaniya (seen in Mastizaade with Sunny Leone), and singer Madhavi Shrivastava (late composer Aadesh Shrivastava's niece) were on the panel of judges and post the show, the sextet went to the Golden Temple and gorged on the Langar together. Apart from looking for young talent in Punjab, Amit's venture, Ghayal Sher's debut talent hunt event 'First Cut 2016' also served a message to the youth of Punjab to say no to drugs, and was attended by the Mayor of Amritsar, Bakshi Ram Arora and was sponsored by the local gigantic apparel kingpin, Mukesh Mehra of Maahi.
Deepti says, "I'm a big devotee of the Golden Temple and think it's among the most divine and peaceful places of worship. I also loved the positive thing that the show was doing - giving the local youth a platform and sending a message to stay away from drugs. I couldn't say no to something so beautiful."
Amit adds, "It bothered me to see the youth of Punjab being drawn towards drugs and being taken advantage of by fraudulent agencies who take money from them and promise to give them "opportunity" to work in the entertainment industry. So I decided to do something about it. I didn't have to convince the judges or Deepti too hard to join me because they believed in the cause just as much."
Soon the industry might have fresh faces taking the B-town by storm!
