The Gone Game Review

Mystery thrillers are always one that grabs our attention for the setting that they have, the sets, the eeriness, and everything else that follows. And while it is a growing genre for the audiences, the latest addition to the list is that of The Gone Game. Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, the show features an interesting cast of Arjun Mathur, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Sanjay Kapoor, Indraneel Sengupta, among others.

The show is basically a story of how a death in the Gujral family is perceived as murder, however, it all ends in a different kind of tragedy altogether. Sahil (Arjun) is declared dead by the hospital for having tested positive for COVID-19, however, the family then suffers because of this tragedy for more reasons than one.

The Gujrals, along with Dr. Prateek Jindal (Indraneel) and Barkha Kapoor (Lubna Salim) are also a part of this tragedy due to their connection with the Gujrals. While there are very little areas and the possibility to experiment, this story that has been shot in lockdown and narrates the story about a lockdown leaves no loose ends.

Another interesting thing about the show is how it does not constantly remind you of the fact that this has been shot without an in-person crew, for the shooting is beautifully done, the music works very well and things are all well taken care of as far as what we see on the screen is concerned.

This four-episode series is short, and doesn't stretch out any point. The episodes are concise and the acting from everyone has been impeccable. With everyone appearing on the screen from inside their screens for a major part of this show, we think we are mighty impressed with everything that the show has to offer.

The movie also beautifully seems to be a summary of how panic was prevalent when the pandemic first hit us, how there were people of all kinds, and at the same time, the situation got worrisome. The Gone Game maintains a balance in everything and it manages to keep you on the edge until the very end, and at the end? Well, you'll see for yourself how things take a u-turn in the last few minutes of the show.
