The journey of Batman has been a roller-coaster ride when it comes to pop culture. With unsuccessful attempts to make films when it comes to George Clooney's and a few others to director Christopher Nolan leading a resurgence of the superhero universe with the Batman trilogy, it continues to be loved nevetheless.

There was a mixed bag of responses when it was confirmed that actor Robert Pattinson will be the new Batman but with the looks, teasers and posters coming out, people seemed to be coming around the idea. Now, the first ever trailer of The Batman just came out a while ago and it shows several other characters including Penguin, Commissioner Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth and of course, Catwoman.

What makes the trailer fascinatingly different from others is the style it seemed to be shot in and presented in. The styling seems to be more horror-like than a quintessential superhero film. But this is good and appears to be a fresh take on proceedings which has us excited. This is a Batman or Bruce Wayne we haven’t seen before, as he doesn’t have much ‘control over his personality’. Pattinson said as he introduced the trailer, “The delineation between when he’s Batman and when he’s Bruce is not so clear as other iterations … I kind of really like this idea it’s a little bit out of control. He hasn’t completely defined what Batman is, but he gets lost in it. Whenever he’s putting it on every night, he’s not sleeping, and he’s becoming this quite sort of odd creature.”

Those few seconds when Pattinson's Batman says 'I', Vengeance and the rapid gun shots synced with music was easily the best part about the trailer. The film has been directed by Matt Reeves. The first teaser for the film released at last year’s FanDome, but COVID saw the film being delayed. As things stand, The Batman will release on March 4, 2022 in theatres.
