Tamil actor Pandu passes away due to COVID-19; Wife in ICU

Best known for comic roles, Tamil actor Panda breathed his last at a hospital in Chennai as he was battling Covid-19. His wife continues to be in the ICU

Popular Tamil actor Pandu passed away earlier today. He breathed his last during the wee hours of the day. He was 74 and succumbed to Covid-19 complications. 

As per a TOI report, Pandu will be taken directly to the cremation ground from the hospital and the last rites will take place at the Besant Nagar cremation.

Panu and his wife Kumudha had tested positive for Covid-19 and were getting treatment at a private hospital in Chennai. While the actor succumbed to the virus,his wife continues to be in the ICU. The couple has three sons- Prabhu, Panchu and Pintu. 

Pandu made his debut in the Tamil film industry with 'Karaiyelllam Shenmabagapoo', and later acted alongside Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith, and many other stars in Tamil cinema. 

Some of Pandu’s best work include his cameo role in Ajith Kumar-starrer 'Kadhal Kottai' and as a police officer in Vijay-starrer 'Ghilli'. He was last seen in 'Indha Nilai Maarum', alongside Ashwin Kumar, Ramkumar and Nivedhithaa Sathish in the lead roles.

Apart from his comic roles, Pandu is known to have designed the 'Twin Leaves' party logo for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

Recently, the Tamil film fraternity has lost many gems to Covid-19 and Pandu is the third celebrity to succumb to Covid-19, after director Thamira and KV Anand lost their lives due to Covid-19.
