Swara Bhasker: Sushant Singh Rajput’s Case Has Been Politicised, The Media Has Turned It Into a Reality Show

We got in touch with Swara for an exclusive conversation, where she gets candid about the chatter around Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, allegations against Rhea Chakraborty and more...

Swara Bhasker

Swara Bhasker just delivered a fierce performance as ACP Radha Nautiyal in the show ‘Flesh.’ This is the first time, the actress takes over a cop avatar on-screen but her real-life personality has always been bold and fearless.

Swara does not know how to mince her words and has always been very vocal about her opinions on Twitter. She has also not turned away from speaking over the Sushant Singh Rajput case, which has been surrounded by a lot of noise lately.

We got in touch with Swara for an exclusive conversation, where she gets candid about her take on the chatter around Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. She tells us:

“In my opinion, this is a case that has been politicised and the media has played a very irresponsible role in the way the case has turned into a reality show. It is very hard to now discriminate between what is a rumour and what is a real fact, which ‘leaked’ WhatsApp chats are real or constructed. I think it’s very unfortunate what we’re seeing. It’s become a bit of a witch hunt and I don't understand how we can expect a fair enquiry in such an atmosphere.”

Sushant passed away on June 14 2020, and while it looked like a case of suicide at first, things have turned murky with new revelations being made around the case. Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty came under the scanner after the late actor’s family levelled several allegations including abetment of suicide against her.

Speaking of the same, Swara says:

“I also want to talk about the manner in which Rhea Chakraborty is being treated, we have already decided that she is a murderer. Arnab and the other TV channels are talking as if she is already guilty so I think everyone needs to take a step back and allow the law to take a call.”

Sushant’s case has now been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further investigation. Previously, many questions were raised against the Mumbai Police over alleged discrepancies in their investigation. When we asked Swara’s take on this, she commented:

“I don’t know why we have assumed that the Mumbai Police did not do their job just because they did not find anything wrong. Isn’t it possible that there was no false play? Just because their discovery did not suit a certain narrative and a certain agenda, that doesn’t mean that the Mumbai Police did not do their job.”

She added, “I also want to add that this is a time of a pandemic and the Mumbai Police, along with the doctors are at the forefront fighting COVID, so we should take a moment to appreciate that. It is very easy for all of us to sit in our drawing rooms and discuss conspiracy theories but we have no idea of the impact on the people who are on the ground.”

There is a difference between being vocal and standing up for what is right and the Mumbai police had done a clear cover up with regard to the case and the channels have rightfully exposed the prime culprit with due evidences...we request IF to not post articles which are solely opinionated without evidence backup as CBI investigation is being carried out.
