Aarya season 2 review

Aarya Sareen is back and while she has been trying to escape the situation she is currently stuck in upon her return to India, she is geared up to fight it out. She has more enemies to look out for, her family to safeguard from those trying to take her down, and everything else at stake. Whether she comes through or not, is what we see in season 2 of the Hotstar specials.

Cast: Sushmita Sen, Ankur Bhatia, Vikas Kumar, Maya Sarao, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Sugandha Garg, Geentanjali Kulkarni, Jayant Kripalani, Akash Khurana, Sohaila Kapur, Dilnaz Irani & Charu Shankar

Performances

One of the few times that we get to see a lady Don, it is also something that has our attention and that is right from the first season itself. Her characterization is beautiful to look at and one can rightly say that this was a role made for Sushmita. She can balance intense drama, emotional scenes, and everything that follows.

Another attention worthy performance is by Kher as he manages to be an absolute support to Aarya. Though he doesn't have a lot to say, his screen presence is felt beautifully. Big or small roles, everyone has done total justice to their parts and make it a power packed season 2 through the performances they have pulled.

Aarya season 2 review

The Good

The story has become all the more dangerous and in fact, it is also intriguing. One of the finest web series for a reason, it is truly an adventurous journey to watch out for. The adventure here is also the fact that you don't really know the good guys and the bad guys and you can't always differentiate. And for a thriller show to be a good one, it sure is an interesting angle every time and also a plus. The show is dark and rather on the serious side, and it someone likes that genre, it is a great watch.

The writing this season is all about creating manipulative relationships, even between the families, and one does not visibly know who might betray who and what could follow. You have your brains functioning throughout. In addition, the dialogues also support the narrative that the creators are trying to pass on here and we are thoroughly impressed. The last episode deserves absolute credit for how things culminate. There's also a sense of relatability that the show manages to keep up with and not using the regular OTT tropes. The show holds your attention with its writing, good performances, and the look and feel. The direction too, is great and make the show a complete entertainer.

The Not So Good

While one loves the last episode, when you look at it, you also feel that the other 7 could've been a little fast-paced if that's how the story was meant to be. That does make the show a little slow-paced indicating the screenplay could've been cut-short here and there. You kind of miss the family drama that you saw in the first season and you sort of wish to see more of it to keep it real.

Verdict

Aarya season 2 review

Watch Aaryan 2 if you have been a fan of the first season and for the absolutely amazing writing supported by Sushmita's magnificent performance. The crime-thriller space has been thriving in the Indian OTT space and even otherwise, but this Hotstar show does manage to stand out and beautifully so.
