SonyLIV's recently released original series 'Undekhi' received an overwhelming response from the audience. The dark edgy thriller has impressed the viewers with it's great storyline and captivating performance. We at India Forums got in touch with Actor Surya Sharma who plays the role of Rinku in the show. He spoke to us about the series, challenges faced, his favorite scene and much more.

First of all, the response to the series has been great and specially the performances in the show have been appreciated a lot. So how's the feeling right now?

It feels very good. There cannot be a bigger thing than this for an Actor. All the hardwork that I've put into, in the past 7 years is paying off so I'm very happy and excited to do more and more.

What's the one thing about the series which compelled you to say yes to it?

The story of the series is very gripping and the screenplay has been written really well. The way the story unfolds is extremely charming and it's very different. Undekhi starts off with an incident and then the way the story unfolds, that's the USP of the show. Coming to my character of Rinku, the main USP is that he's not a negative character. He's a little ruthless but that's because of his upbringing, that's his backstory. The love that he has for his father, that was very important for me and personally also, I'm very attached to my father. So I got that one point because of which I could play the character of Rinku really well and I hope I did justice to it and the audience loved it.

As you said, your character (Rinku) is not a completely dark character, he has shades of grey. So how challenging was it to portray that on screen?

There were a lot of challenges because I completed shooting for Hostages in September and then from October, I started this project. In the start I thought that okay, we will be able to crack Rinku but when we started doing workshops, it was very difficult to maintain that demeanor. Because you're not like this in your normal life, so when you have to shoot in front of a camera, you have to bring that demeanor of Rinku. You have to show it in your body language. So I worked on it. I used to live like Rinku. I didn't socialize much because I didn't want people to judge me or my character. These were the challenges. Once the workshops were done and the character is cracked then I'm automatically in the zone. According to me, workshops are very important as you get to work on the minute details.

Do you personally have a favourite scene from the series?

For me, the entire series is my favourite but then there's once scene of Rinku with the DSP, which is one of my favorite scenes.

Apart from this, I have a strong memory of Rinku which is also there on my Instagram profile. The drift of the car at the end is done by me. All these scenes kept being my favourites and they kept connecting with me because somewhere I've put in extra efforts in those scenes. The entire series will be memorable for me.

What other works could we see you in next?

I have a few projects lined up but due to covid, it's on halt. Hopefully, we can resume the shoot by September. If that happens then you will get to see me sooner on screen. I can't disclose much about it right now.
