Sonam Kapoor: Directors like to cast me in their films

Kapoor will next be seen in R. Balki's 'Padman'.

After taking a break of almost 2 years, Sonam Kapoor will be back on-screen with R. Balki's social drama film 'Padman'. After this film, she will next be seen in Veere Di Wedding and Dutt biopic.

Sonam's upcoming film Padman is a story about a man (Arunachalam Muruganantham) who invented low-cost sanitary pads for women of his village and the character is portrayed by Akshay Kumar. Sonam's character Rhea is fictional where she will be helping the 'Superhero' in his journey.

In a recent interaction, Sonam was asked that as her character is the only fictional character in the film so did this made things easy or difficult for her. To which she responded saying, "I did a film called Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, where my character didn't exist either. The whole spirit of the film is inspired by Arunachalam Muruganantham; he isn't a Punjabi either so everybody is fictional".

She further continued saying, "Padman is just an inspiration from Arunachalam's story. We have just recreated this into a different kind of story".

Sonam concluded by saying, "I don't know why but my directors like to do that. I think they just like to cast me in their films".

After Padman, Sonam will next be seen in Sanju which is a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt. Sonam will be playing a brief role in portraying Tina Munim.

Padman is scheduled to release on 25th January 2018.
