Sohum Shah to play Lalu Prasad Yadav in a web series, Gained 12 Kgs for the role

Sohum Shah is widely known for his versatility for the different kinds of characters that he has portrayed on screen. From playing the lead character on Vinayak Rao in Tumbbad to his exceptional performance in Ship of Theseus, Sohum has always surprised the viewers with out-of-the-box personalities and renditions.

Tumbbad has been Sohum’s one of the most critically acclaimed performances till date. This time, the audiences are in for a bigger surprise as they will see him in a distinctly different portrayal. For his upcoming project, Sohum Shah is going to play the role of a famous politician - Lalu Prasad Yadav in a web-series for one of the leading OTT platforms!

A source reveals, "Sohum prepared for the Lalu Prasad Yadav with a strict routine and diet. He had to gain almost 12 kgs before starting the shoot. To make sure that the dialect and mannerisms are correct Sohum attended workshops and watched videos of Lalu."

The political drama is slated to release in 2021. The source added, "The makers tried 5 different looks before finalising the best one. However, the footages from the look test are highly guarded. Perhaps this is the first time in the history of Indian cinema that an actor is playing the role of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The shoot is currently going on in Bhopal and the second part of the schedule will begin in January in Mumbai."

Post the success of characters like Vinayak Rao (Tumbbad), Navin (Ship of Theseus), and Vedanta Mishra (Talvar) Sohum Shah will once again impress everyone with a completely unique avatar of a politician.
