Today, March 29, is Smoke and Mirrors Day! In the list of random holidays to be celebrated, this one is all about lies and deceit. Mirrors lie and smoke fogs your judgement making them the best tools for a trick.
Our Indian TV has it's own set of tricksters who make a very strong case for deception.
Here are a bunch of TV characters you can celebrate Smoke and Mirrors Day with-
Maya in Beyhadh

The game of deception is best played by our Beyhadh girl, Maya. Jennifer Winget is a pro at playing the part of a sociopath and boy, does she sell her act! She seamlessly moves from putting up the front she wants people to see. Concealing her intentions is her forte and she does make a pretty picture in a mirror. if there's anyone who uses mirrors to her advantage, its her!
Yamini in Naagin

A serial with quite a few shape-shifters is bound to leave you prepared for lies and smoke. However, in Naagin, we saw that the smoke was fogging the judgement of the viewers. The most deceitful of all was Yamini. Sudha Chandran's character acted sweet from the very beginning and her plot against Shivanya came to light much much later.
Ragini in Swaragini

Ragini, played by Tejaswi Prakash Wayangankar was a pretty good game changer on Swaragini. She became a household name with the role. Her character was heralded for her obedient and kind nature. Being a traditional marwari girl, she sold her goody-two-shoes act well. Later, however, she was revealed in her negative shades. From pretending to be kind to faking a pregnancy, the Maheshwari family saw it all.
Maasi Maa in Ek Sringaar -Swabhimaan

This show did give a lot of power in the hands of the governess. Nothing makes a master plot weaver like a character who doesn't seem to have the reigns of powers. Maasi Maa played by Suchitra Pillai-Malik is one such screen personality. She played the perfect antagonist in disguise to Meghna and Naina.
Radha Rani in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi

Radha Rani is one of those characters who never makes the cut to being a vamp but ends up creating a road-block for those around. She carried on with the ideal homely woman facade for the longest time, but her greed (among other pitfalls) got in the way. Hating the woman her son loved and raising him to be bitter are a few crimes she doesn't look the part for!
