Shubhangi Atre, aka Angoori Bhabhi, chooses to prioritize her career over giving love another chance

Shubhangi Atre, also known as Angoori Bhabhi from the TV show "Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!," has been playing the character for eight years. She replaced Shilpa Shinde in the role. Shubhangi, who was recently in Lucknow, shared in an interview with one of the leading portals that when she took on the role, many people, including her mom, doubted if she could do it. However, she believed in herself, as she felt a connection to the character's playful nature from her own childhood. Interestingly, she initially auditioned for a version of the character that spoke English humorously, not in Awadhi as it is portrayed now. Shubhangi's daughter was supportive as she was the one who thought Shubhangi could pull off the character.

Shubhangi began her acting career in 2007 with "Kasautii Zindagii Kay" and has explored various genres, including love stories, family dramas, and even negative roles. Despite being known for comedy, she believes there's more for her to explore, especially in web series.

In personal matters, Shubhangi announced her separation from her husband, Piyush Poorey, after 19 years of marriage. She described it as an emotional roller-coaster and expressed that she won't give love another chance, focusing on her work instead.

Discussing trends in TV shows, Shubhangi mentioned that the industry still follows the demand and supply concept, with many shows featuring crying bahus (daughters-in-law). While some makers attempt new concepts, they often don't succeed, leading to show closures within a few months.

Shubhangi, in her early 40s, feels blessed to have had a daughter at an early age. Her 18-year-old daughter is pursuing astrophysics in the US and aspires to join NASA. Shubhangi considers her daughter her biggest critic and best friend, even influencing her fashion choices for events. They share a close bond, having grown up together.
