Shruti Haasan recently opened up about a challenging period in her life: her parents' separation. The former couple, actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika, divorced in 2004. Shruti shared how this experience shaped her, emphasizing that despite her family's fame, she never felt entitled due to the humbling experiences of her youth.

Shruti Haasan further reflected on the life-changing lessons she learned from her parents' separation, sharing insights into her understanding of struggles and success. She added, “I am glad for those lessons because I learnt that you can go from Mercedes to the local train… like really quick in life. Both are a journey that you can learn from."

Before embarking on her acting career, Shruti Haasan reconnected with her father, Kamal Haasan. During this period, she pursued music studies abroad, determined to establish her own identity within the industry. "I always had this sense of I want my own space, and I want to earn my own money, and I want my own independence," she shared with the media.

Shruti acknowledged a certain attitude in her early days, clarifying that it stemmed from a fear of insecurity rather than a sense of superiority. She mentioned, “I was a bit attitude-y. it was not from a place of thinking that I am better. It was completely from a place of fear and thinking I am lesser and projecting confidence."

Kamal Haasan and Sarika married in 1988, welcoming Shruti in 1986 and their second daughter, Akshara, a few years later. The couple separated in 2002 and finalized their divorce in 2004.

Shruti Haasan, now 39, will next appear in the Tamil film *Coolie*, starring alongside Rajinikanth. The film is set for release in the second half of 2025.
