Music composer duo Nadeem-Shravan's Shravan Rathod's sad demise on Thursday shocked his fans and many artists of the music industry. The iconic music composer passed away due to Covid-19 complications. Now, Shravan's son Sanjeev has revealed that Shravan had tested positive after visiting the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar with his wife.
In a surprising turn of events, Sanjeev revealed that he, his brother and his mother have also tested positive.
Speaking about his father’s sad demise, Sanjeev said that while he and his mother are still recuperating from the disease; his brother was allowed to go out and arrange for the funeral of their father.
In a recent interaction with Indian Express, he said, "We had never thought our family would have to go through such tough times, my father passed away, I am Covid positive and so is my mother. My brother is also positive and is in home isolation, but since our father has died, he is being allowed to do the final procedures to do last rites for our father."
Shravan’s visit to the Kumbh Mela amid the surging Covid-19 pandemic has raised many eyebrows. In another interview with the news agency PTI, Sanjeev maintained that he doesn’t want to blame his father’s visit to the Kumbh as the reason behind his death.
“Father was admitted last week after he started showing symptoms… He attended Kumbh Mela. But I wouldn’t put my hand on it and say he caught the virus there,” Sanjeev Rathod told PTI.
He further mentioned that he would rather think that his father Shravan Rathod went to the Kumbh and surrendered himself to the Almighty there.
“I don’t know how it happened or where exactly he contracted it. One way to look at it could be that our souls find peace in God after death, but someone at his age got to visit a holy place and then surrendered to God,” he said.
Hours after the composer’s demise several reports of his body being held by the hospital over a Rs 10 lakh bill surfaced.
Sanjeev rubbished the rumours of the hospital making things difficult for the family and confirmed that it is untrue and that the hospital has been very supportive.
“There were some rumours that the hospital is not giving us our father’s body following an issue with billing, but it is untrue, the hospital has been very supportive and they did everything they could to help my father,” he added.
Sanjeev and his mother Vimla Rathod are still admitted to the hospital. He said he has mild symptoms and it’s his second day at the hospital. The late musician’s mortal remains were collected by his other son Darshan Rathod who performed the last rites.
Shravan Rathod of the Nadeem-Shravan duo gave several incredible hits with many popular voices including Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Shreya Ghoshal among others. Dhadkan, Raaz, Raja, Saajan, Dilwale, Aashiqui, Sadak, Sirf Tum, Pardes, and Raja Hindustani are a few movies that showed the magic of the musical duo.
