In a shocking incident, Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali who was on the sets of his upcoming film 'Padmavati' in Jaipur was mobbed, slapped and beaten badly by the activists of Karni Sena. They even assaulted him by pulling his hairs.

There are also reports that his clothes were torn apart during the incident.

The reason the protest was conducted is said to be the portrayal of Rani Padmini of Chittor played by Deepika Padukone.

A close source from Rajasthan has revealed, "Karni Sena is the party that didn't allow Jodha Akbar to release in Rajasthan because of the wrong name of the Jaipur princess who was married to Akbar. They are not happy with this film being made. Four months ago I had received a message about how the community was not happy".

"Bollywood takes loads of liberties while portraying characters and Rajputs in Rajasthan are fairly traditional, we are taught our khandani (family) history before we even start schooling. I knew this was inevitable because they had already sent word to SLB that incorrect portrayal will not go down well with them."

The protesters broke down the equipment of the shoot. They claim that their history is being distorted in the making of the movie. They also attacked the unit of the film. Finally, Bhansali's security personnel had to resort to firing in the air.

However, things are now better as the people who were protesting have been put behind the bars by the police officials.

Luckily, no actor was present on the sets when all this happened.
