Recently, the Bombay High court has relieved Shiney Ahuja as they allowed his passport renewal for 10 years.

Shiney Ahuja had found himself embroiled in a legal battle following his conviction on charges of rape in 2011. The court handed down a seven-year prison sentence, although he currently resides outside prison walls on bail. Initially, he was bound by the court's directive, preventing him from leaving the country without prior court approval.

Presently, a significant development has unfolded as the Bombay High Court has sanctioned the renewal of Ahuja's passport for an extended period of ten years.

According  to a recent report by India Today, it was disclosed that Shiney Ahuja received a substantial reprieve in his rape case when the Bombay High Court granted him the privilege of a 10-year passport renewal on August 8th.

This verdict was the outcome of a petition filed by Ahuja himself, beseeching the court for a prolonged renewal duration.

Justice Amit Borkar, a lone member of the bench, observed that Shiney Ahuja had diligently adhered to the stipulations set forth when he was granted bail back in 2011.

Furthermore, the court asserted that there had been no violation of the bail conditions, even after multiple renewals of the passport. In light of this, the High Court concluded that Ahuja had presented a compelling case warranting the direction to the passport authority for the issuance of a ten-year passport renewal.
