Shefali Jariwala’s old clip saying she'd die as ‘Kaanta Laga Girl’ resurfaces after death

The entertainment industry woke up to heartbreaking news on Saturday. Actress and model Shefali Jariwala, fondly known as the Kaanta Laga girl, passed away late Friday night at the age of 42. Her sudden demise has left fans and colleagues in shock and mourning.

According to early reports, Shefali suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi. However, doctors declared her brought dead on arrival. A post-mortem is currently underway, with results expected by Saturday noon. Her family, visibly shattered, was seen outside the hospital. Parag, her biggest support system and life partner, broke down as he arrived with her. Her mother, too, was inconsolable.

In the clip, she is seen talking to fellow contestant Paras Chhabra, who asks if she ever got tired of being called the Kaanta Laga girl. With a smile, Shefali responded, “Never... There can only be one Kaanta Laga girl in the whole world, and that is me. I love it. And I want to be known as the Kaanta Laga girl till the day I die.” Her words have now taken on a deeply emotional weight for fans remembering her legacy.

Shefali became a household name in 2002 with the music video Kaanta Laga, which quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. Her bold look and confident screen presence were ahead of their time, earning her instant fame. She later appeared in Bollywood films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and participated in dance reality shows such as Nach Baliye.

Her personal life saw its share of ups and downs. After a difficult divorce from Harmeet Singh, Shefali found love again in Parag Tyagi. They met at a friend’s party, and Parag fell for her instantly. Shefali took her time to heal. After dating for nearly four years, they tied the knot in 2014, overcoming delays due to family health issues.
