Shahid Kapoor opens up about leaked images with Kareena Kapoor: "I was destroyed'"

Shahid Kapoor has finally broken his silence on the distressing incident from 2004 when private images of him and his ex-girlfriend Kareena Kapoor were leaked by the media. In a recent interview, Shahid candidly shared his emotional turmoil during that time, expressing how deeply he was affected by the invasion of his privacy

Reflecting on the leaked images, he expressed his distress over the invasion of his privacy and the helplessness he experienced in trying to protect himself from the public scrutiny. Shahid described the incident as a tumultuous period in his life, where he was trying to navigate his emotions, understand relationships, and deal with the challenges of being a young actor. 

During the interview, the subject of the leaked images resurfaced, with the interviewer sharing an interesting anecdote. He mentioned that three individuals had approached their office with the clip from the club where the images were captured, and they had been given a sum of ₹500 for it. Shahid laughed and engaged in a light-hearted conversation, jokingly suggesting that the interviewer himself might have been the one to offer the money. 

Shahid also acknowledged how things have changed since then. He emphasized that in today's digital age, celebrities are more aware and prepared for such invasions of privacy. The experience has made them more cautious and informed about the potential risks. Shahid added that with his current marital status and fatherhood, the public's interest in his personal life has shifted, and he no longer faces the same level of scrutiny as he did in his early twenties. He humorously noted that there are now younger celebrities for the media and fans to focus on.

For the unversed, Shahid and Kareena had been in a relationship for several years during the early 2000s and had even worked together in several films, including the immensely popular Jab We Met. However, their relationship came to an end in 2006, with Kareena moving on to marry Saif Ali Khan and Shahid entering into an arranged marriage with Mira Rajput.
