Samridhii Shukla reacts to Smriti Irani's Kyunki 2 outdoing YRKKH on TRP charts: 'They have their own..'

Samridhii Shukla, who currently plays the lead in Star Plus' iconic show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, recently addressed the ongoing comparisons being made between her show and the newly launched Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. Both shows have been grabbing attention and generating TRPs, with many speculating that Kyunki 2 might give tough competition to YRKKH.

In an exclusive interview with India Forums, Samridhii called Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi an "iconic show", saying: "Kyunki toh I think ghar pe bhi sab ne dekha hai because it is an iconic show and it will remain so. I've always said this — they have their own audience, and so does Yeh Rishta. Kyunki was also one of the longest running shows of its time. Hopefully, we will also see this show (Yeh Rishta) running for a long time now."

She also addressed the ongoing chatter around competition and TRP rankings, adding: "I do not think it is a competition or anything like that. And even if it is in terms of TRP numbers, that is okay, yaar. We are doing well. As far as I know, we are at number three this week, right? Which is pretty good. I think being in the top five is pretty good."

With Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai being one of Indian television’s longest running shows, it is natural for it to be compared with other legacy based or high performing shows. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, a reboot of the original Ekta Kapoor classic, has quickly become a talking point since its launch and is drawing attention from viewers across generations.
