Best known for his outspoken behavior and dauntless opinions, Saif makes it a point to share his viewpoint of subjects that matter.

In a recent interview with Zoom TV, Saif talked about Films and how Bollywood often whirls around the topic of male stalking, stating that it has become a genre. He also points out to Shah Rukh Khan’s 1993 film, Darr, wherein the lead character Rahul is obsessed with a girl named Kiran and stalks her making the film a violent love story. He further goes on to state how this kind of a genre is often successful in films, remarking that SRK made the beginning of his career with the romantic thriller film, co starring Juhi Chawla and Sunny Deol.

“Male stalker is almost the genre for Indian cinema and somehow it's always been successful and Shah Rukh Khan made his career on it in the beginning”, Zoom TV quoted Saif as saying.

The Sacred Games actor further says, “And I don't know, it's like a society thing, we have a tendency to give the audience what we feel they want and again, these characters must have trickled down from the West... they must have been because we copy a lot,” blaming Bollywood’s obsession with such stories with the West.

Besides Darr, many popular movies from that era had stalking as its central plot-Anjaam, Daraar, and Jeet, to name a few. Besides, Raanjhanaa starring Tamilian superstar Dhanush, and the 2003 film Tere Naam, starring Salman Khan also glorified the male actors' obsession with their female love interests in the film.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Saif Ali Khan will be next seen in Laal Kaptaan. He also has two other films, Jawaani Janeman with Tabu and Tanaji: The Unsung Hero with Ajay Devgn, in his kitty.
