Sacred Games 2: Kada Gate Continues; Another Complaint Filed Against Anurag Kashyap

Netflix India and Producer Anurag Kashyap landed into a new controversy for their latest release Sacred Games 2. BJP leader Tajinder Bagga filed an FIR against Anurag Kashyap for hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs with a scene in Sacred Games 2 where Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) throws away his Kada into the sea, suggests reports.

“Kada is considered as a revered and integral part of Sikh religion and it is treated with utmost respect and faith,” Bagga said in his written police complaint. “The accused deliberately and intentionally depicted the scene in his web series with sole intention of insulting and outraging religious feelings of the people belonging to the Sikh community to promote disharmony, enmity, hatred and ill-will between different religious groups to provoke breach of peace by giving provocation and to severely insult the religious beliefs of the Sikhs,” the complaint continued.

Bagga sought action against Kashyap under section 295-A (damaging sacred object), 153, 153-A (attack on religion), 504 (provocation to break peace) and 505 (spreading rumours) IPC and Information Technology Act.

On Tuesday, Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa initiated the controversy by demanding the removal of the ‘Kada scene’ from the series. In a series of tweets, Sirsa expressed his disappointed and bashed the filmmaker for making the main character Sikh without doing any research on the religion and the importance of ‘Kada’. He also urged Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javedkar to take legal action against the platform and production.
