Could have been completely flat if not for Salman..

After a hiatus of almost 10 long years, Salman Khan's first hit reality show, 10 Ka Dum is back and as we call it, certainly with a bang.
Before Salman became synonymous with Bigg Boss, it was 10 Ka Dum that the actor was known for. So, now that he is back after all these years, let's see what did the show turn out to be.
The Concept

The show's concept has barely changed, where the basic credentials remain the same. The only inclusion of how the auditions were taken place was the novel touch as it was about staying updated with technology to say the least.
The Good

Salman Khan continued to be the prime reason for anyone to watch the show, inspite of the fact that he doesn't do anything differently than his Bigg Boss avatar. But, what's a lot more endearing is Salman sharing anecdotes from his personal life with the contestants, and his pally attitude with them too.

The best part about 10 ka Dum is simplicity of understanding the game to actually playing it. This is no KBC, where the viewers are demanded to rack their brains way too much. It's fun, relatable and as common as it can get. But, that is undoubtedly the USP of the show.
Even though, the look and feel to the show is new, the nostalgic factor is well dominated here. But, the best part is that even though it is spread across 2 hours, it is still just a bi-weekly weekday show. It was too much fore me, but the viewers may feel otherwise.
The Not-So-Good

The whole emotional speech that Salman was made to say in the beginning was completely flat. One could easily spot Salman's lack of acting skills there, and his 'bhai ki entry' that happened before that on the title track would have sufficed.

The background score or the person incharge of music department needs to be given a thrashing right away. There is so much unnecessary introduction of music out of nowhere after anyone completes the sentence. It's really irritating.
Although the bi-weekly weekday show is a good idea, 2 hours still seems a little longer than anticipated. KBC runs similarly, but because it is just an hour plus and spread across 5 days, there was breathing space.
The Verdict

Salman's the quintessential example of 'love him, hate him, you can't ignore him.' One after the other, he keeps doing reality shows, and you cannot deny that he is the reason the viewership is high. With this new season of 10 Ka Dum, things are a lot different, but the show hasn't lost it's authenticity at all. So, it's a decent watch overall, but the runtime still needs to be toned down a bit.
