Reason for an 'Open letter' to Shonali Bose by Sonal Vengurlekar

Margarita with a Straw, the film has been appreciated world-wide for its story-line, acting and direction. The Shehenshah of Bollywood, Mr. Amitabh Bacchan loved the movie to an extent that he organized a special screening for the same. But seems like one of our beloved characters Devyani Shastri aka Sonal Vengurlekar from Shastri Sisters, didn't like the concept of the movie and drafted an open letter to Shonali Bose, Director of the movie.

Tellybuzz contacted Sonal for the same and she said, "Yes, I did write a letter to Shonali because I felt it was an insult to people suffering from Cerebral Palsy. I have an elder sister who is having the same disease and she was very disappointed after watching that movie. There were many people on wheel chair in that same hall and I could make that out that they all were unhappy and disheartened."

On being asked what is her sister's take is on the same, she added, "She told me that for people likes us sex is our last priority and sometimes it doesn't even exist. Also, if it all she conceives, then she wouldn't be able to handle the pregnancy."

On being told that movie was based on true events and the director's focus was to show that people get past the disability and treat people with disabilities normally she explained, "I like a few scenes in the movie but it lacked focus. They should have given other subjects more priority like what they have to face in day to day life, about their dreams, ambitions and stuff like that."

We hope Shonali reads your letter ASAP and revert on the same.
