Actress Raveena Tandon broke stereotypes long before it was cool when she adopted two girls in 1995. She was 21 years old and at the top of her Bollywood game when she decided to adopt Pooja and Chhaya, when they were 11 and 8-years-old, respectively.
In a recent interview, she shares what made her take this step. “I didn’t like how their guardian would behave with them and some instinct in me pushed me to take them to my home. There was something about them that made me feel that me being a 21-year-old doesn’t matter. I can say it has been the best decision of my life” Raveena told Pinkvilla.
The two girls are now married with kids of their own. The actress says that the girls still write her letters and she encourages other women, even single moms to come forward and opt for adoption.
