Ratna Pathak Shah says she often has to stop Naseeruddin Shah from voicing his opinions: Here's why

In recent years Bollywood celebs, and filmmakers have faced a lot of flack for their statements, actions, the title of their films, etc. The 'boycott trend' ban hashtags on the social media is one fresh example of the same. Talking of which recently Bollywood veteran couple Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah who frequently express their ideas without fear expressed that they get quite frustrated by the current state of the nation.

Talking about the same in a recent interview with Siddharth Kanan, Ratna acknowledged that she regularly had to restrain her husband Naseeruddin from expressing his opinions. 

She frequently warns him, saying,  "Aaj ke zamaane mein koi aa karkhada ho jayega ghar par hamare, pathar daalne (Someone will come and throw stones at our house). Anyway, finding a job these days is extremely challenging because there are so many reasons for it. In order to avoid being frightened, one must be sensible and not scared."

The veteran actress further clarified that this does not imply that no one should speak up, though. She thinks that anyone who witnesses injustice or misconduct of any type should speak up. After which she said, "Darr lagta hai. Agar duniya mein galat ho raha hain, usko koi point out nahi karega toh woh sudhrega kaise”

Talking about the work front, Ratna is all set to make her debut in Gujarati cinema with Kutch Express. She was last seen in Attack, starring John Abraham and Jayeshbhai Jordaar and with Ranveer Singh. While Naseeruddin Shah’s upcoming film, Kuttey, is releasing on January 13, 2023.
